M. Shadows recently emailed in to Kerrang! to give a statement on Avenged Sevenfolds win of “Album Of The Year” at the 2008 Kerrang Awards. Read what he had to say below:

“Many critics write off Avenged Sevenfold release after release,” writes Shadows. “They don’t understand why the band changes so much from album to album. We’ve given up on thinking the media will accept us and write records that we know our fans will enjoy. Always have and always will. “We are a fans’ band, not a critics’ darling,” he continues. “So when we received this award it actually meant a lot to us to have a publication such as Kerrang! acknowledge us and present us with record of the year. It was a huge honour and we were excited to receive such an award when creativity isn’t usually celebrated… this is nice to come back in 2008 and pick up album of the year. Thanks Kerrang!”
