Deathbat News reader Christine was kind enough to send me a few excerpts from Avenged Sevenfold’s Big Cheese Magazine feature so I could share it with you guys. To read more from M Shadows make sure you order your copy here.
“The record and everything around it is a very important thing for us, especially with the situation we’ve been going through,” the singer admits. “This record is the last one with our drummer Jimmy, featuring the last piece of music that he wrote, so it’s really significant for us. I don’t know if it’s a milestone we wanted to hit, but it’s one that unfortunately has to be recognized. We didn’t want to be here doing this without Jimmy, but we are in this situation and we’re glad we did it.”
“Unfortunately, this is the most important record we’ve made,” Shadows states. “Sometimes when bands write a lot of albums, you kind of go through the motions and you just start regurgitating stuff you’ve already done. That wasn’t the case with us. Jimmy was writing some brilliant material and we thought we were always working on something really special. Now, with him passing away, it’s just that much more important to us. It’s a bittersweet notion releasing this record. Everything is based on Jimmy. We’ve obviously rather have it the other way around, but we gotta do what we gotta do; preserve his legacy and get his songs out there to the people. I know a lot of our fans really want to hear what he was working on in his last days.”
“The album has some really cool stuff on there. There are songs that are more pop-sounding, others that are way out there – for example there’s an eleven minute song which is very progressive, dark and gothic – there is some Pink Floyd influence that we’ve never really explored before, and then there are some of the heaviest tracks we’ve ever done. Heavier then ‘Waking The Fallen.’ There’s one called ‘God Hates Us, which is just a damn angry song. We went through all emotions here and I think they are all captured on this record. It’s like our ‘Black Album,’ you know? There’s also a piano piece Rev wrote three days before he died and it’s like nothing I’ve ever heard before. It’s very eerie and haunting. So there is a lot of different things on this record; some cool guitar work, Mike’s excellent drumming, and a lot of aggression too. Plenty of highs and lows.”
“I dont think I will ever come to terms with what happened. Everyone who has lost somebody tells you that you’ll never be the same, but you’re just going to learn to live with it. And at first you don’t want to move forward; you just want to sit still and not admit it to yourself. But then you realize doing that doesn’t help anything. I feel guilty moving on, you know? Jimmy started this band with us. Why do we have the right to move on without him? Then I think he wouldn’t want us to stop. He’d want us to go on and rock out.”
“Honestly, we got a call the other day asking for us to book live dates after December and we told them not to book anything,” he says. “Mike’s gonna be done by then, and I’m not ready to look for a replacement for Jimmy. We’re only at the point of touring now because Mike helped us out and was so generous in the whole process. He offered and we felt really comfortable with him. I’m not interested in touring after that and I don’t know whats going to happen with the band. I think it will take a long time before we decide to move forward in that fashion. I know that we will definitely play music together in the future but I don’t know if we’ll be called Avenged Sevenfold. The thing about our band is that we were all brothers. I grew up with Jimmy; he was my best friend. And at this point it seems so wrong. I’m looking at all the paintings in my studio of the five of us and the photos and it just doesn’t feel right to go on. He was one of the founding members. It’s so bizarre to me. So I don’t know where we’ll go exactly. I’m sure we’ll find our way, though. In time we’ll figure it out.”

Awww the last thing he said is sooo true
Comment by mirna July 12, 2010 @ 7:58 pmThey are so strong, this is why I love them so much <3
i know theyve said theyre taking baby steps but at the end it sounds like matt wants to continue with a7x
Comment by deen July 12, 2010 @ 8:02 pmThere’s more to it that I added.
Comment by deathbatnews July 12, 2010 @ 8:05 pmi cant wait till i can get my hands on the full interview, 336 hours till nightmare!
Comment by deen July 12, 2010 @ 8:09 pmoh thanks for the added excerpt
Comment by deen July 12, 2010 @ 8:09 pmI know from previous interviews Matt’s stated that they have no idea yet, but that even if they didn’t continue as A7X they’d still play music together. They’re best friends after all.
Comment by Marlz July 12, 2010 @ 8:07 pmI actually believe it’s quite the opposite.Reading what you read,I actually think he feels he doesn’t want to tour. He feels it’s wrong of them to move on. It truly breaks my heart,as I believe it’ll be the better decision, rather than starting and new band all over again.I’m pretty sure Jimmy would’ve wanted them to carry on,just like Syn said he would feel if he was the one to go.However, you have no idea how much I’m hoping that you would be right.
Comment by Anonymous July 12, 2010 @ 9:52 pmYes he said he didn’t want to tour, but that he doesn’t want to quit playing music. There are bands out there who release music without touring. Because for them it’s about the music, not the touring. Of course those are few and far between. And most of the time a record label would push for some tours. Take The Beatles, for example. I was watching a doco, and there was a bit about where they actually said they made one of their albums purely for listening pleasure, and not for touring. But obviously they toured the album…probably because of the label pushing them to do it. Not out of any self-interest n touring.
But, you’re right, none of them even want to tour right now, but who knows what will be the case in the future. That was really my point.
Comment by Marlz July 13, 2010 @ 5:09 pmand matt said it doesnt feel right to continue in A7X seems like there gonna make a diff band or something
Comment by Dustin July 13, 2010 @ 7:29 pmExactly, he said that ’cause they’re best friends who love playing music, they’re not gonna stop playing music, just maybe not as avenged
Comment by Marlz July 15, 2010 @ 11:35 pmYou’re quick DBN…I mention that and then you post another snippet of the feature…
Comment by Marlz July 12, 2010 @ 8:11 pm;)
Comment by deathbatnews July 12, 2010 @ 8:12 pmI wonder what they’d name the band, if they put the Avenged name to bed.
Comment by Josh July 12, 2010 @ 8:15 pmLips of Deceit? No…no idea really.
Comment by Marlz July 12, 2010 @ 8:17 pmavenged centerfold lol
Comment by deen July 12, 2010 @ 8:18 pmLol totally and they should do a centrefold of Matt…naked…give us naked Matt…’cause we didn’t get to see nekkid Matt on Seize the day lol. I kid.
Comment by Marlz July 12, 2010 @ 8:23 pmNekkid Matt, oh hell yeah!!!
Comment by A7XForTheWicked July 13, 2010 @ 7:25 pmthey could always call themselves Deathbat and make the symbol a bat head with skeleton wings
Comment by deen July 12, 2010 @ 8:20 pmlmfaoo!!!^^
Comment by Mike Gee July 12, 2010 @ 8:47 pmThat would be totally awesome. Lol.
Comment by Marlz July 13, 2010 @ 6:43 pmThis is making me sad, bittersweet kind of sad, though. Because I’m sure we’ll hear music from these guys way into the future. It just won’t be the same.
Comment by Marlz July 12, 2010 @ 8:16 pmi hope when they tour theyll see the love from the fans and realize how much a7x has accomplished, i hope a7x continues, i love the name and its progress, but if they decide to put the name to rest and reborn in a new band, i would absolutely follow them and everything they do in the future no matter what i have to call them
Comment by deen July 12, 2010 @ 8:16 pmI really hope they go on as Avenged Sevenfold kuz it wuld keep Jimmys memory as being part of the alive u knw it will never be the same again but i knt see myself kalling them somthing else
Comment by Anonymous July 12, 2010 @ 8:18 pmi know what you mean, if they drop the name then people would listen to them as a new band and i think it would kind of make people eventually forget a7x after so many years, at which point the death of the band a7x becomes more memorable than the death of jimmy, if a7x continues, when people see them or hear them they can automatically remember the rev; keeping the band alive will perserve jimmy otherwise his legacy (nightmare) becomes the last album of some old band
Comment by deen July 12, 2010 @ 8:23 pmIt’s hard though. Look how epic Led Zeppelin became when they quit after Bonham. They’ve got this really concentrated collection of amazing music. Then on the flip side, you’ve got Metallica who continued on after losing Burton and they’re still putting out the best music possible (and Burton’s memory certainly hasn’t faded, I don’t think).
Hard road to walk when you’ve got not only the loss to deal with, but the continuing business aspect of it all without that partner/brother.
Comment by jennifermhill July 13, 2010 @ 7:37 amI think if they really need to, they should take a short hiatus next year and whenever theyre ready to move on, we’ll be waiting
Comment by deen July 13, 2010 @ 9:03 amCounting down the days, dying to hear this.
Matt, if you’re reading this, I think most of us fans do want you to continue your music legacy, and under the name Avenged Sevenfold. Go on in Jimmy’s memory and let his energy and loss inspire you to create more music in the future. You guys truly are legendary
Comment by [NE]Fobby[GEN] July 12, 2010 @ 8:18 pmWell said, my friend!
Comment by A7XForTheWicked July 13, 2010 @ 7:26 pm^ Couldn’t have said it better. Amen to that
Comment by walnuts July 13, 2010 @ 11:42 pmGod Bless Matt. Seriously. This is another reason I love this band. They’ve been through hell, yet they’re still thinking of the fans. What more could a fan ask for? I can’t say I know how the guys feel, but I know what it’s like to just want the world to stop moving when you lose someone special. They’ll figure out what they want/need to do for themselves when the time comes, and they’ll always know that we’ll stand behind their choices.
Thanks for posting this DBN! I don’t know where I’d actually find ‘Big Cheese Magazine’ over here in the UK.
Comment by Kace July 12, 2010 @ 8:19 pmHey. I live in the UK and bought it once, I think, from a Newsagent. Failing that, maybe a good quality WHSmiths? Or use the link to order it :)
I can’t imagine them as anything other than a7x, even without Jimmy, but if the guys decide to take that route, I’ll support them all the way. Hopefully they’ll stick with a7x, though, because I agree with what others have said: it’d help keep Jimmy’s memory alive. foREVer x
Comment by SS July 13, 2010 @ 12:33 amEven if they decide to stop doing music, which will kill me. I know how hard it is for them, and I will support them no matter what.
Comment by mirna July 12, 2010 @ 8:20 pmAvenged Sevenfold foREVer <3
And heavier than Waking the Fallen? Man. Sooo stoked.
Comment by [NE]Fobby[GEN] July 12, 2010 @ 8:20 pmHaha, seriously. I think this album might be better than City of Evil (and will certainly be better than the s/t)
Comment by Drew July 12, 2010 @ 9:53 pmThis album will be better than anything ever written
Comment by Dustin July 13, 2010 @ 7:44 pmYeah, a song heavier than I Won’t See You Tonight Pt. 2? Can’t get much heaver than that without going into the death metal genre. Can’t wait for that song.
Comment by Jon July 13, 2010 @ 8:17 amI really hope they do go on as Avenged Sevenfold to keep Jimmys memory alive the name has so much in it I cant see myself calling them by any thing else , i knw it wont be the same but still…
Comment by Clarissa July 12, 2010 @ 8:21 pmThe last bit is really depressing, I don’t have the money to see them in the fall and I’ve never been able to see them. If they don’t continue, I never will. I completely understand and from the start of all this, never expected them too continue Avenged… but it is really heartbreaking.
Comment by Kayla July 12, 2010 @ 8:25 pmi know, i never got to see the Rev play :(
Comment by Anonymous July 13, 2010 @ 6:47 ambut thank God i get to see them at uproar, i was luck to even have that chance…
My friends saw them open for Iron Maiden and tease me cuz they saw Rev live and I missed the chance forever (foREVer!)… Damn I wanna kill them at those moments, disrespectfull…
Comment by RaZoR July 13, 2010 @ 8:24 ami saw them with papa roach and buckcherry last year, it was a 2 hour and 40 minute drive and i am so glad i did it, i also cant wait to see them at uproar, but still i dont think theyll have that same energy without jimmy
Comment by deen July 13, 2010 @ 9:05 amSame here…..I didnt even pay much attention to the Rev just cuz I had syn standing right in front of me lol, but I remember looking at his drum kit live and just being like good god!
Comment by Terrance Phifer July 13, 2010 @ 11:42 amI agree, it breaks my heart that I may never get to see them live, but, if they feel it’s the right thing to do, i’m sure we’ll all stand behind them on it.
Comment by Anonymous July 13, 2010 @ 9:00 amIn time, they will find their way, whether as A7X or another band. I hope they continue with A7X, though I realize it will be almost impossible to get a new drummer. I’ve lost people close to me, but not the way they did, so I can only sympathize. They are so strong, though, to finish the album and tour it. In time, it grows easier, but they need to take their time. I’ll follow them no matter what they do.
Comment by Kel July 12, 2010 @ 8:34 pmReading this made me cry all over again.
Comment by Anonymous July 12, 2010 @ 8:37 pmLike it’s still sort of unreal that they’re won’t be the five of them anymore, just four. And at times it’s I want to believe that this is a sick joke and Jimmy will pop out laughing, but I guess one could only wish.
Thanks DBN
It does seem like the kind of joke Jimmy would play, huh?
It’s so hard reading stuff like this. It just brings it all back, and it made me cry too.
I’ll always support them, no matter what they do. Jimmy’ll live on in the guys, and the fans.
A7X foREVer
Comment by ClairementA7X July 12, 2010 @ 9:11 pmI can’t stop wishing that this is a cruel joke and Jimmy will just come out of hiding. I miss him so much, it’s crazy.
Comment by Nikki July 12, 2010 @ 9:19 pmi would laugh and cry and have SOOOOOOOOOOOO many emotions.
lol itd be the biggest prank ever tho.
Comment by Ryan July 12, 2010 @ 9:50 pmI just thought about it yestetday!I know that if this was a joke,I’d be angry at first, because it’s not something you should laugh and mislead people about. But after that,I would’ve been happy that Jimmy is still with us.Like you said, one can only wish.
Comment by Anonymous July 12, 2010 @ 9:55 pmthis is heartbreaking…
Comment by emilyA7X July 12, 2010 @ 8:56 pmi hope they make the right choice im still going to be a fan 100%
A7X foREVer
<3
Fuck… this is heartbreaking. And now I can’t stop crying.
But I will support these guys 100% no matter what the decision may be.<3
Comment by Nikki July 12, 2010 @ 9:18 pmwell said :)i will also be sticking beside these guys whatever they decide to do, no matter how heartbreaking their decision may be
Comment by Chris July 13, 2010 @ 2:30 am“There are songs that are more pop-sounding”
._.?
Comment by Jeremy July 12, 2010 @ 9:20 pmhey we love their music and they have tried a lot of different styles ^^ give it a try.
Comment by Anonymous July 12, 2010 @ 9:39 pmkeep in mind that they describe Scream as a hip hop song.
when they say pop sounding they mean metal (or a7x music, cause a7x music is more than metal) with pop influences. they say pop sounding so everyone can understand the direction they’re taking with the song.
Comment by Ryan July 12, 2010 @ 9:53 pmthats exactly what i thought.. but if theres atleast one song on the album anything like waking the fallen n it’s heaviness i would not even care if the rest were duets with justin beiber and the jonas brothers
Comment by cjd July 12, 2010 @ 10:10 pmlol
”God Hates Us (feat. Justin Bieber)”
Comment by Danniel July 13, 2010 @ 10:07 pmJustin Bieber being proof that God does, in fact, hate us.
Comment by Sarah July 14, 2010 @ 7:13 amOr Britney Spears, perhaps? lol
Comment by Marlz July 15, 2010 @ 12:34 amhaha not like Brittany Spears.
Comment by Waiting4Nghtmr July 12, 2010 @ 11:27 pmyeah… that kind of scares me… but they redeemed it with “heavier than waking the fallen” =)
Comment by David Castleman July 13, 2010 @ 12:30 amListen to “The Fight” from diamonds in the rough….like this…its a great song..
Comment by Drunoctis July 13, 2010 @ 3:37 ami love that song ;p
Comment by Jeremy July 13, 2010 @ 6:55 pmJust like Dear God had a country infusion…didn’t make it country…
Therefore, pop-sounding, doesn’t make it pop.
Comment by Marlz July 13, 2010 @ 5:21 pmThis is really sad to read, but I will support the guys on whatever they decide to do. God bless them for even finishing the album for Jimmy, because not many bands could go through the hell they have been in. I think Jimmy is smiling down at them right now for pressuring on to finish the album.
Comment by Alyssa July 12, 2010 @ 9:27 pmThe 27th of July will definately be a very memorable day for the band and all fans alike….
Matt said Jimmy always told him 2 things.
Comment by Anonymous July 12, 2010 @ 9:38 pm1. He wanted to be a rockstar
and
2. He was going to die before he was 30
if I remember correctly.
I think they should continue on being rock stars just like jimmy wanted to. I don’t think he would have wanted them to stop after his death, he’s too awesome to be like that. If one of the other members died I think he would just drum it up in their name until the day he himself died
2 Weeks until nightmare! Counting the minutes…..
A7X foREVer
Comment by Tanner July 12, 2010 @ 9:41 pmI can’t wait to lession to there album I hope they stay together in the end
Comment by christa July 12, 2010 @ 9:43 pmThis made me cry. It’s just like watching Pantera go their own separate ways due to the death of Dimebag. I know one thing for sure, even if Avenged separates.. They will never be forgotten but remembered as the brotherly band who changed the world with their music. I don’t doubt a thing M. Shadows says and I know Nightmare will be the best album that will be placed in Rock history.
Comment by Anonymous July 12, 2010 @ 9:48 pmdang… i feel like a con artist now, paying only $60 for what will be the greatest album ever made…
Comment by Ryan July 12, 2010 @ 9:54 pmIn tears after reading this. It’s totally heartbreaking. If they choose to not be Avenged Sevenfold anymore, I’ll totally support them…I always will.
Comment by Livvy July 12, 2010 @ 10:01 pmIt’s just so hard reading this…it’s still hard to believe that Jimmy’s gone. I still wish it was just a cruel joke.
I’m still blessed to be able to see them in September. It’ll be my first A7X show.
I’m so happy they’re putting out this album for Jimmy. I’m sure he’d want them to.
omg they can’t end, not so soon D,:
Comment by Bruno July 12, 2010 @ 10:09 pmThis is AWESOME!!! To have songs “heavier than WTF” – fuck me its gonna be sick! and don’t fret by pop-sounding he means like self-titled-ish but I think (judging by reviews) those songs would be Welcome to the Family and Tonight the World Dies. it doesnt matter its gonna be sick! and as for the touring and stuff – keep in mind that this interview was probably done back in june and they might be in a different headspace now. They feel guilty naturally because they’re going on without a core member/brother but at the same time M. is right becuz that brother would want them to continue under Avenged Sevenfold and keep him alive through that
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer July 12, 2010 @ 10:16 pmPersonally I think this is the end of Avenged Sevenfold. The nightmare will never end for them. They could never be the same without Jimmy, and seeing as they are the great band they are, not caring about fame or fortune, I think they will lay it to rest in respect of Jimmy. As much as it will suck to possibly never hear new music from Avenged, I understand.
Comment by Zack July 12, 2010 @ 10:20 pmi hope they keep the name, it’d would mean so much to everyone if they kept going as A7X
gah i’m so excited for this album. we’re gonna pop it in, then sing along to nightmare because everyone knows it. then that moment of silence before the rising echoes at the very end is going to begin and we’re all gunna be like “here it comes!!!!!!” then BOOM, epic
Comment by steve July 12, 2010 @ 10:42 pmlol i will be doing the same thing i heard the new album will have more guitar solos than city of evil CANT WAIT
Comment by Anonymous July 13, 2010 @ 11:58 amKnowing that there’s a possibility of the end of Avenged Sevenfold Kills Me. Not because I’m some rabid fan,but because they’re a huge part of me. They’re one of my biggest stress relievers. They’ve been there for me when no one else one, yes, even though I NEVER knew them personally. Their music is what brought me to meet my girlfriend of 2 years. Avenged Sevenfold is in my Blood. foREVer.
Comment by Derek July 12, 2010 @ 10:49 pmI’m going to be very upset if they decide to not move on with A7X. The band means a lot to the fans and people all around the world. Losing Jimmy was a huge loss to everyone. The band will NEVER be the same, but that doesn’t mean they should end. Imagine if Metallica chose not to continue after losing Cliff Burton, AC/DC without Bon, Ozzy without Randy Rhoads… Avenged is the band from our generation that will be remembered. A7X ending would just be another tragedy on top of an already devastating blow. I know it’s obviously up to them, but Avenged’s music has left an impact on many lives and it would be a shame to see them end.
Comment by Tommy July 12, 2010 @ 11:26 pmI gotta be honest, I think this is going to be it, I think this is going to be Avenged Sevenfold’s last album, and that breaks my heart. I wish they would stay as Sevenfold, but it seems so unlikely.
Comment by Seth July 12, 2010 @ 11:35 pmPart of me wishes they would do what Led Zeppelin did after Bonham died and call it a day. I love them, but they music and band will never be the same without Rev.
Comment by Anonymous July 13, 2010 @ 12:21 amJust an excerpt but the deepest interview thus far. It’s almost sad to think of music without Avenged Sevenfold especially after we get this new album. I’m going to see them live in August and normally id be just plain excited but its somewhat depressing, as this could be the last time.
Comment by Terrance Phifer July 13, 2010 @ 1:03 amI really hope god hates us is like similar to
Comment by Jeremy July 13, 2010 @ 1:23 amDesecrate through reverence (x
DTR is like dark, and such (; and it’s my favorite song
I only really just came to realise how epic that song is…I’m slow, okay? lol.
Comment by Marlz July 13, 2010 @ 5:17 pmLmao! haha its aiight ;p its awesome and idk! it gets me pumped! XD
Comment by Jeremy July 13, 2010 @ 6:54 pmAll my hopes for their world tour gone away.. I’m actually confused, because Matt said totally different thing in the interview few weeks ago. But whatever will happen I will be with them. The best band of all time. I love them.
Comment by ChrisA7X July 13, 2010 @ 1:26 amWell, they’re probably just as confused as to what they should do. Like they’ve been saying, baby steps…and peoples minds can change…
Comment by Marlz July 13, 2010 @ 5:17 pmI hope they will.
Comment by ChrisA7X July 15, 2010 @ 3:27 amI like how everyone’s freaking out ’cause they might not continue as Avenged and then that Jeremy dude is like, Pop Songs D:
Comment by Kirsty July 13, 2010 @ 1:35 amI dont get how they could possibly want to put the name to bed. A7X was Jimmy’s baby, and when a parent passes, you cant let the baby pass too, you have to keep that baby strong. I’d still stick with these guys no matter what but if they did decide to put the name to rest, it’s gonna take some sinking in. I hope to see Avenged still kicking ass when they’re 80. Most importantly, my grandkids’ asses. They are going to learn good music even if their granny has to tape them to a chair and drill it in their heads.
Comment by Melissa July 13, 2010 @ 1:46 amI hope they do keep the name Avenged Sevenfold but as things stand I don’t think they will,
it’s going to be so strange seeing them in November without Jimmy.
Comment by SynysterCraig July 13, 2010 @ 2:06 amawesome! :) this album is gonna kick ass, i just know it. i cant wait!! :D
only 2 weeks to go now guys :)
A7X foREVer!
Comment by Chris July 13, 2010 @ 2:28 amAll this shit brokes my heart.
Comment by Ann July 13, 2010 @ 2:57 amIt’s so hard. I can’t believe how strong they are.
That’s why I love so much A7X.
“Then I think he wouldn’t want us to stop. He’d want us to go on and rock out.”
FUCK YEAH.
Kills me to read this, it really does. :(
Comment by Sarah July 13, 2010 @ 3:07 amme too :(
Comment by j July 13, 2010 @ 12:58 pmThis is very heartbreaking…..I will support the guys 100% if this is what they choose to do. It will kill the fans, but I am so afraid that they will loose what they are after in this cd. It will no longer be a memorial or tribute to Jimmy, but will become overshadowed by this being the last cd they ever did. I just can’t help but feel if they do this Jimmy will be lost forever and that is not a good thing.
Comment by Buffie July 13, 2010 @ 3:24 amI wanna hear all the songs but mostly i wanna hear “god hates us” , “fiction” , and the one syn wrote for jimmy…but im excited with all the song even shadows said that some are more poplike…i liked the son “The Fight” that imo is the more pop sounding song of them.
Comment by Drunoctis July 13, 2010 @ 3:32 amAnd something else about Jimmy…
Comment by Drunoctis July 13, 2010 @ 3:36 amIf he could talk right now he would say to the members to play more, create more, have fun more…cause u know the song “seize the day” …they just have to make more stuff and mostly have fun.
I think that this is what Jimmy would want for them as he was a joyful person too.
i really can’t help but wish this was all a big joke…i mean i just can’t see jimmy being gone, like i think i’ll go to a concet and BAM jim with be banging out on the drums, but he won’t and it’s breaking my heart, i know this cd will bring me to tears as i’m in now, but it will be worth it.
Comment by Zacorra July 13, 2010 @ 5:00 amwow.

Comment by jax July 13, 2010 @ 5:09 amYou know i was thinking and first of all id like to thank you deathbat news for all your help but the last part made me think that this could very well be there last album and last tour as a band i certinly hope that there experience will be a good one and i hope that us being the great avenged sevenfold family and fans that we are we can show them that we really need there music what do yall think? o and i was also thinking about a new name how bout this: Avenged Reverendfold? huh huh how bout that? !!!!!!!
Comment by joshua July 13, 2010 @ 6:08 amI just want the guys to know that no matter what happens, they should know that their fans love them & will stand behind them 100%… if they are A7X, another band with a different name or they never produce music again. I am so thankful for what they gave & I am so thankful for that they are about to give us now.

Comment by Deen July 13, 2010 @ 6:35 pmTo think that they might not continue as Avenged Sevenfold is really sad. Dude, that’s basically the best way to keep Jimmy’s memory alive. The fans can only do much to help. If they put the name to rest, it’ll shine a spotlight on the name nd not Jimmy’s death. It’ll be secondary. But anyway, I’ll listen to them no matter what, no matter what choice they make. It sucks that I never had the chance to see them live with The Rev, but I’ll do anything I can to see them now. Hope I get to see them on Uproar. Irvine show baby! :D Sevenfold foREVer <3
Comment by Gwen July 13, 2010 @ 10:07 amEveryday I feel like this is a big joke, and Jimmy will pop out saying “gotcha!” and I wish I could of got to see them live before this. And I don’t have a chance to see them live now because they’re not playing anywhere near me, which sucks. I hope they do continue as A7X, because they’re truly the best band ever. I know it will never be the same without Jimmy, but it will just break my heart that my all time favorite band is done :(
Comment by Nikki July 13, 2010 @ 10:23 amIt breaks my heart knowing he’s gone. I try to fool myself into thinking December 28 never happened and Jimmy was in the recording studio now rocking out. Ive never got to see them live cause I wasnt old enough when they came near me. But knowing that the band might not be called Avenged Sevenfold anymore,, It litteraly makes me want to cry. This band is my life. I grew up listening to Unholy Connfesions and Chapter Four. And now this my be the last album AVENGED SEVENFOLD will ever have. They might put out records as a new band but its not going to be the same because its not really gonna be them. Not what I grew up with, not what Jimmy was in, Not Avenged Sevenfold.
Comment by AlexaVengenz July 13, 2010 @ 10:39 amPart of me doesn’t even want to listen to this record, when the single came out, I really didn’t even wanna listen to it.. i’m sure it’s a great record, there’s just part of me that wants them to start as another band. I wanna remember Avenged Sevenfold with Jimmy, i’m sure i’ll still be an avid fan if they continue as Avenged Sevenfold, just part of me doesn’t want that to happen.
Comment by Anonymous July 13, 2010 @ 12:55 pmI really wish that they wouldn’t re-name themselves it would just feel weird and come on avenged sevenfold is the BEST NAME EVER! you can’t get a better name than that.
Comment by courtney591 July 13, 2010 @ 1:02 pmI really don’t know what I would do if they decided not to continue on after this tour. I know that sounds dramatic or what ever, and its completely selfish, but it would be heart breaking to say the least. I would follow them in what ever they do as far as being a new band, and I’ll have all the shows I’ve been to and all the time I’ve spent with them to look back on…but still, even with all that it would still be heart breaking. But this is what happens, change is the only thing that is ever constant in this world, and ultimately they have to do what they feel is right for them. But to think that I’ll never hear the opening riff to Unholy Confessions, or the organ in Critical Acclaim live on a stage again after this summer just makes me want to cry. I hope they can find the strength to persevere…and if not, then I understand. If you’ve ever lost someone like that, you know first hand how much it changes you…and you have to change in order to deal with it. As much as you may wish for things to go back to how they were, it doesn’t happen that way. So I understand and empathize, and they will ALWAYS be the band that wrote the soundtrack to my life, there is nothing that will ever change my love for them and the remarkable gifts they shared with all of us. Unholy Confessions was the thing that literally saved my life for Christ’s sake when I was going through the emotions of losing my father. So the emotional attachment, for me personally, is deeper than I can explain in this little box. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that, and I’ll brace myself for what ever may come.
Comment by Christen July 13, 2010 @ 1:06 pmi have all their stuff and after uproar, ill have seen them twice and those will be things to remember them with if they decide to quit a7x, but still i would love for them to continue and it really is a terribly sad situation that i cant personally relate to and the fact theyve made this album and have all their tourdates shows how much strength they have but i really do wish they continue
Comment by deen July 13, 2010 @ 1:53 pmYou are one strong and positive person. There should be more people like you in this world who appreciate the meaning of life and music of Avenged Sevenfold. I also agree with you because Avenged Sevenfold’s music help build the soundtrack of my life and helped me see that no matter how much you want to deny the fact that you lost someone you love, there’s nothing left to do but try and move on for that person. I’ll always remember Avenged Sevenfold as they were.
Comment by Anonymous July 14, 2010 @ 12:57 amI could not agree with you more….they are the glue that held me together when I lost my father. I won’t see you tonight holds a very special place in my heart because of the way I lost my dad.
They are an amazing band and I will follow them in whatever they choose to do as any dedicated Avenged fan will do.

Pingback by Top Posts — WordPress.com July 13, 2010 @ 5:11 pmI have to be honest, the thought of them not continuing as Avenged Sevenfold just breaks my heart. What they have gone thru breaks my heart. I sit here and watch clips with Jimmy in them and I cry my eyes out, seven months after he’s gone and I still bawl like a baby. I can only imagine what these guys who are best friends, spent all this time together and clearly love each other must feel. I can’t imagine how hard it is going to be for them to step onto a stage and not be able to see Jimmy on the drums behind them. It breaks my heart for them. I hope, for my own selfish reasons that they continue as A7X. But if they chose not to, I would follow them no matter what. But I love Avenged Sevenfold and that is just the way it is.
Comment by A7XForTheWicked July 13, 2010 @ 7:36 pmMaybe they could have an hour long TV special to announce their decision.
Whatever they do, I support them 100 percent. There will be nothing in the world that will ever compare to listening to this album on the 27th and thinking this could be the last time I hear new material from a7x. It will be bittersweet. L
A7X foREVer.
Only 13 more days!!
Comment by Tanner July 13, 2010 @ 9:05 pmI agree, I never see avenged sevenfold on t.v and it would mean alot to the fans and me if they got on television to us everything that’s to come.
Comment by courtney591 July 14, 2010 @ 12:04 pm:( Ahh i think we all knew that it could happen, but none of us want to belive that A7X could end… I totally understand and support the guys in whatever decision they make and im so glad that im going to see their UK tour while i still have the chance. Jimmy was irreplaceable. The new album will be incredible and its so sad to think that in fact, this album will be their best of their lives, possibly make them into a HUGE band like pantera or metallica but they feel as though they cannot carry on, just as they were getting started :( they are so strong <3 rip jimmy <3 xx
Comment by Hannah B July 14, 2010 @ 11:44 amDerek, dude I feel for you! I feel the SAME way, AVENGED SEVENFOLD brought me life long friends with there music…I’m going to miss them if they stop playing. But i understand, they’ve been through more than we can possibly imagine, I realise why theres a song called Gog Hates Us, it just doesnt seem right…back in Deceber when i glanced over a video on youtube saying Jimmy passed away i laughed saying no he didnt, but i watched it and the world stopped, my heart felt like it stopped beating…and i didnt even personaly know him, it took over a week to grip reality and admit he died, Its still hard to admit, i wish he was here and this wouldn’t of happened…i miss him, I miss the happy, halarious videos of them, and ive realised we’ll never see that side of them again…foREVer
