There was a little video but you couldn’t click it, and when I clicked the Share button, it tried to load something but died on a blank page.

For those who are still waiting. Most of the song is kind of soft; it kind of reminds me of Clairvoyant Disease with a great dueling riff with the verses. It’s got a rocking chorus. The song really revolves around Shadows’ vocals on this one. It’s got a killer solo which is followed by a more hardcore part; kind of reminds me of Nightmare’s post-solo part (“Fight! Not to fail!…”). The song overall aint like anything we’ve heard before.

Yeah I know exactly what you meant ;). And their best song in my opinion is Scream. Lol. But it generally changes for me depending on my mood. This is a mellow tune compared to a lot of other songs.

Loved the solo…..idk if its Portnoy or if A7X planned it this way, but the drums are very weak compared to most any other song. Great song, focuses mainly on Shadows’s vocals…..very catchy chorus and the second verse is pretty much my favorite part of this song lol. Great effort here.

Neither Nightmare nor Buried Alive seems really alive. Hopefully Portnoy hasn’t influenced their sound at all. Dream Theater haven’t put out something great since Scenes from a Memory.

Second of it doesn’t seem to simplistic unless you are referring to the drums which are in many places simplistic. But I loved the drums in that song especially after the second chorus during the bridge to the solo where the guitars just ring out. I love the double kick. And the guitar is very un-simplistic to me.

Because I think that some people are trying to relate absolutely everything to The Rev, and while this album is in his honor and largely influenced by him the song “Nightmare” was done before he passed, lyrics written, everything and the band has said that before. I think this is someone just trying to desperately grasp at things he could find in the song and twist them into something different.

The lyrics to Nightmare have NOTHING to do with Jimmy’s death, that’s come out of the bands mouths. Just watch the Walmart interview posted today. This song was originally one that was to be used on the concept album. Half of the album is songs they were planning to use for the concept album while the other half are lyrics they wrote based on what happened. Therefore, yes, people trying to pull subliminal messages out of “Nightmare,” the song, are pulling them out of thin air.

Frequencies are alot different in metal production than in pop.

I love how the song transitions into something totally different as it goes on. The second half is the best part for me. I like how the guitar solo gets down and dirty. Love Shadows bringing the screaming back even if it is just a little here. I enjoy the breakdowns in it especially the small one at the end. I think this song will be a huge live song if they choose to play it. Definite sing-a-long for the crowd.

1. I was a teenager in the 80s, Metallica was obviously one of my favorite bands, and then the Black album ruined Metallica for me. I would love to never hear again that this “will be their Black album.” That would be awful to me. That being said, I don’t mind the Metallica influences in this song, as they fit.
2. Anyone else notice that at the 5 minute mark it has some very Nightmare-ish sounding guitar/drums?!?
Other than that, it’s Avenged and I love what they do! I’m really excited to hear the rest and glad that they are doing some official “leaking” for us!!!

Having been a fan of DT since 1989 I’ve noticed a lot of patterns: a big one is that they have musical “themes” throughout an album or even over multiple albums. The songs are marginally better than the ST but not just because they’re heavier. They’re growing each time they write new material. As you would hope they would do.
It really should not be based on how heavy or how much screaming Shads does. That’s all very good, but if you’re going to say it’s better talk about the techniques used as oposed just saying it’s ‘heavier’ or whatever.

Seize the Day was a ballad, but you don’t hear their others on the radio (I Won’t See You Tonight, Gunslinger, Clairvoyant Disease, etc.) It could really be a hit.

Loved all the song, but the ballads were my truest favorites. I played it for my husband who’s a radio listener. He says it’s going to be HUGE if you play it on the radio. I’m sure A7X has already made decisions about the future of this song, but I’m telling you, it will pull them into the band. Granted, my husband listened to A7X because of me, but he thought this would be crucial to your success. Love you guys and behind you 100 percent.

Ok I just listened to it again and it’s AMAZING I guess the first video had terrible sound quality and it wasn’t very loud. With avenged sevenfold stuff you kinda need to hear it loud to hear everything

Otherwise you end up with a band like Disturbed that puts out the same shit. I like this song, I do not love it. I think there will be much better songs on the album than this. It is amazing to hear new material I can’t wait to hear it all.

The S/T was my first new release A7X record but before they even started on it my first a7x record that I got was COE, than STST, than WTF (which became my fav until now), and then I got the S/T. Tune and lyrics are completely different, but the format is exactly the same. Starts slow…Melodic verse. Loud, heavy chorus with distorted guitars. slows down again…repeat. Then the end of “Buried Alive” get really heavy, sounds like a different song, JUST LIKE THE METALLICA SONG! Exact same format. Check it out!

When things start heating up and we hear drums and the chorus for the first time, my heart really started pounding and this was actually the climax of the song for me
Then the solo. Absolutely shreading. Some of their best guitar work to date.
Then, to be honest, things started going downhill. Too much metallica influence is possible. Backing chant vocals were just a little cheesy and I just really didn’t like It.
Overall, it is a great song.
I’m getting more of a Pantera vibe than a Metallica vibe, if anything.

The only reason that I think everyones like omgz metallica is because it’s musically genius, and people associate that with metallica. For me metallica is the most instrumentally genius band ever, and im not even that big of a metallica fan (mostly because i’m picky about James’ vocals, sometimes i like them, sometimes eh. but instrumentally they are consistently amazing). Yes I can see metallica playing this song, I feel like it’s something they COULD have written. But fact of the matter is they didnt, A7X did and it’s got enough of that feel to it to where i hear itt and i dont go “omg metallica” i go “fuck yes a7x”
