If you would like to listen to previews of the songs off of “Nightmare” then you’re in luck. Barnes And Noble have put up 30 second clips of each song off of the new album. You can check them all out here. You will have to have Windows Media Player to listen. If you’re having trouble listening to a few of the samples just give them time to load or wait a few minutes before trying again. Also, try clicking “Launch Standalone Player” and see if that helps.

Comment by Sam July 20, 2010 @ 4:08 pmYep, it has that weird symphony orchestra kinda feel to it even thouhg this preview was one of the few that didn’t even have any additional elements (or atleast you couldn’t notice them from the low quality preview). And that’s what I’ve always loved about A7x, they have that incredible ability to paint a picture in your head and create chilling atmospheres with just the melodies played with the main instruments

A lot of these previews were just instrumentals so it didn’t ruin much for me. You can’t really judge the songs based on this

EXACTLY what I was going to say – directed to comment above about people overhyping. I copied a few quotes people put on here.
Seriously people, it’s like being in grade school again. everyone is jumping on this “album is going to be epic” bandwagon. Let’s just wait and see. Fiction I’m sure will be good, but just because it has the Rev’s stamp of approval on it doesn’t mean it’s going to be the best song avenged ever wrote. I mean, think clearly people. It sucks he died, but people are treating Fiction like it’s the next Stairway to Heaven or something. Jesus Christ, it’s just a song.

I’m treating it as an introspective piece of work that will be entertaining and worth hearing out, but the people that keep saying Fiction is so “epic” and “legendary” need to think clearly because a 30 second clip won’t tell you that.
I hate to say this but if the Rev hadn’t died I bet half of you would complain about Fiction. I’m just giving my honest take.
I’m sure the album will rock, and that’s what it intends to do so hopefully mission accomplished, right? WE WILL SEE.

Now Metallica influenced parts of this record but Guns N Roses?? The last Guns N Roses influence I heard was on COE and on this record I didn’t hear them talk about GN’R or have any GN”R sounding songs. GN’R was American Hard Rock almost with a lil southern vibe. Nightmare is a dark, gothic, progressive epic. It seems like A7X get pigeonholed with the guns n roses influence all the time.
And also for everyone arguing over weeping and not weeping – its everyone’s OWN PERCEPTION who gives a fuck whether the person above wants to weep and the person below wants to punch something. STOP ARGUING OVER PEOPLE”S PERCEPTIONS OF THIS ALBUM
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer July 21, 2010 @ 10:19 ami hear gnr influence, actually. more in syn’s guitar solos and shadz vocals in some songs. but from what i’ve heard(which is the 3 full songs and all the previews) it sounds about 90% metallica and 10% gnr. but nobody can say anything yet besides DBN and everyone else that has heard the CD, because you can’t judge an album or influence based off of some 30sec previews and 3 songs.
