Around the end of November I announced that Chris Epting and Deathbat News were gearing up to do something special. Chris has put up a little hint and preview as to what’s to come. Everything, including surprises for all of those who followed instructions, will be announced on Dec 23rd.

just out of curiosity, how do we know you got our emails?

Comment by Rachel December 19, 2010 @ 10:43 pmI want to add to the post here – not to get too preachy like I may have in that post but I mean it sincerely – hearing from many of you this past year, developing conversations, even meeting some of you face to face – really gave me a sense of the giant fingerprint Jimmy left on this planet.
My son and I were speaking earlier today about what a weird year its been – notable in the immediate wake of the loss of Jimmy was a note I got from (the GREAT) Mike Portnoy inquiring about a special gift he wanted to send the family – soon, we all know what happened and now, Mike’s stamp is indelibly tattooed on this most pivotal year for the band. The year could have been a serious “nightmare,” and regardless of anything else, he was a sturdy anchor in the storm-the rock that rock needed.
But I know how your year was as well and I know from some of the communiques that’s it’s been really hard – so not as a fan, but as a parent, I just want you to all know I wish you continued strength and passion in the music. You’re an amazing bunch (you helped send us to Antarctica for god’s sake!) and I’m thankful for our bond.

You’ve helped this family in your own way.. in the beautiful pieces you have written about Jimmy. And in my own personal life as well.. every time I seem to have a bad day, you posted your gorgeous pictures from the trip (I miss those by the way! LOL) & it reminds me to look around at the beautiful things in life (something I try to live by anyway).
As for Mike, he will forever have my love & respect for helping the boys & us get threw this last year. It takes a real man to step up like that!!
