Deathbat News reader A7XFreakDrummer pointed me in the direction of some never-before-seen footage of Avenged Sevenfold performing a concert in January 2004 at SloBrew in San Luis Obispo, CA. The owner shot this only 6 months after Waking The Fallen had been released and found the footage just recently after it had been lost from 2005 to now. Watch the entire show below:
A big thank you goes out to Hoopmov for uploading his footage and letting me share it with you all.

Comment by adael January 24, 2011 @ 11:38 pmWow, the guys were a lot more interactive with the crowd, I have to say. And lol at the guy who tried to get on the stage during Chapter Four.
Comment by Gabby7x January 23, 2011 @ 4:50 pmTrue but look how much closer they were able to get lol their stage is almost in the audience, now they play on bigger stages in bigger venues where they couldnt reach a mike over if they tried lol but if u notice when thet play clubs nowadays, like the key club in los angeles they get more interactive

Comment by N.Viknes January 23, 2011 @ 6:00 pmNot THAT high. But a hell of a lot higher than on the album, I must say.
Comment by Alyssa January 23, 2011 @ 6:13 pmi think that they should do a tour of just stst and wtf songs, like a blast from the past tour…just not as cheesy sounding lol

Part 2:
Desecrate Through Reverance
Comment by Sam January 23, 2011 @ 6:40 pmDarkness Surrounding 06:10
Second Heartbeat 12:13
Stupid me. For a second I thought that was the length of each song in the videos. I was like “What?!”
Comment by Loghen January 23, 2011 @ 6:53 pmAnd there I was thinking Desecrate Through Reverance never got played live! Fuck yeah!
Comment by Anonymous January 23, 2011 @ 7:11 pmI thought the same actually lol
Comment by Sam January 23, 2011 @ 7:31 pmhahahahh ;P
Comment by Sam January 23, 2011 @ 7:14 pmHahaha. Did anyone notice Zv’s shirt @32:44.? it says “NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS”…..wierd that they are on a tour sounding just like it…. =)
Comment by Noel January 23, 2011 @ 6:56 pmright on!!! syn is rocking a Les Paul \m/
Comment by diego January 23, 2011 @ 7:12 pmWow.. If they ever open with Unholy Confessions again, that would be epic.
Comment by mario January 23, 2011 @ 8:30 pmFantastic! thx for putting this up! they should have played a couple of these songs on the nightmare after Xmas tour. like how they did that chapter 4/enternal rest thing! That shit was awesome!!!!
Comment by Kevinzahn7 January 23, 2011 @ 8:31 pmQuestions and comments:
Wow, Syn is using a Les Paul. Very weird.
I’m loving the crowd interaction.
Now…
Has And All Things Will End ever been played live? This predated City of Evil perfectly and I’ve always loved it!
Comment by Mike January 23, 2011 @ 8:38 pmI think they might have played it a few times later on the WTF tour they also played both parts of IWSYT and Clairvoyant Disease. The only one I don’t think they played is Radiant Eclipse because it’s in a different tuning then all the other songs they used to play and im pretty sure they only ha done guitar each.
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer January 23, 2011 @ 9:27 pmI don’t think so. I think that And All Things Will End and IWSYT Part 2 were never played. Which is of course highly unfortunate, cuz those are two AMAZING songs!
Comment by dcafwriting January 23, 2011 @ 10:12 pmI do think IWSYT2 was played live a few times. I’ve heard from a friend that he saw them do it live around this time (obviously lol), but as for All Things.. I’m not sure
Comment by Tommy January 24, 2011 @ 8:31 amHmmm, idk. I asked Synyster after a show if they would ever play Eternal Rest of IWSYT Part 2 again and he said “I don’t think we’ve EVER played that one.”
Comment by dcafwriting January 24, 2011 @ 11:23 amno they have idk why Syn said that but in interviews they did around 2003/04 Zacky once said that IWSYT part 2 was their fav song to play live cuz they got to show off their skills
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer January 24, 2011 @ 2:42 pmActually, IWSYT2 has been played a single time in the bands history. May 19th, 2004. Edmonton, Canada. I was there. http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/avenged-sevenfold/2004/the-starlite-room-edmonton-ab-canada-6bd2fefa.html
Comment by Mason January 24, 2011 @ 3:40 pmAh, he probably forgot about that show then haha. And you are so fucking lucky that you got to see that. How did Syn do with the solo? lol or do you even remember? that was a helluva long time ago
Comment by dcafwriting January 24, 2011 @ 7:42 pmYea idk y Syn would say that 2 people reviewed the show and a day after and both said it was played. Aa for Radiant And All Things Radiant was played one time after many requests but never played again due to bad crowd reception and all things has never been played from what I hear
Comment by T3hPlaguez February 14, 2011 @ 2:54 pmThis is absolutly AMAZINGG!!! X)
Comment by Anonymous January 23, 2011 @ 8:40 pm<333333333333333333
After i watched it and saw the way they look now and thought about the huge ass concerts they play present time is…once again ABSOLUTLY AMAZING! haha i love these guyss!
For some reason, syn gates headbanging makes me smile :D
Comment by Sarah January 23, 2011 @ 8:49 pmMe too :D He doesn’t really do that anymore.
Comment by Gabby7x January 24, 2011 @ 2:45 pmHis hair is too short. :P
Comment by Alyssa January 24, 2011 @ 7:00 pmWell then he should grow it out again! lol j/k, I like his hair shorter, but it was fun to watch him be all aggressive and such ;)
Comment by Sarah January 24, 2011 @ 10:49 pmthis is awesome! it’s cool to see them play some of these songs before they added their little additions to the live versions, such as the squeels that syn puts into the beginning riff of unholy confessions, and the “HEY!” crowd chant in the breakdowns of unholy confessions.
they’ve grown and evolved a ton and i love it
Comment by Steve January 23, 2011 @ 9:10 pmJust once, I wish they would tour with just one song from Sounding in the setlist. Darkness Surrounding, We Come Out At Night, Shattered By Broken Dreams…ANYTHING!
Comment by Brandon January 23, 2011 @ 9:24 pmRemenissions and Desecrate Through Reverance are the best.
Comment by A7xfan661 January 23, 2011 @ 9:29 pmEveryone.. Notice that Jimmy is wearing a shirt with the word “Death” (tentatively titled instead of Fiction) and Zacky with a (Nightmare) Before Christmas shirt.
Comment by A7xfan661 January 23, 2011 @ 9:35 pmO.O
Comment by foREVerTJ January 25, 2011 @ 6:32 amGod syns les Paul is awesome
Comment by Chris January 23, 2011 @ 10:41 pmalready watched it yesterday when searching for new live shows by them.
Comment by Ron January 24, 2011 @ 3:15 amwatching this makes me wish they will play more songs from WTF or maybe like a short tease from STST
they are absolutely better now live… but if more of these shows surfaced that would be amazing… if you want to see some of their 03-04 setlists, go to ultimate-guitar.com (im not spamming its a good site for this stuff) and type in avenged sevenfold and go to reviews and there are a lot. here’s an example from the May 19, 2004 show.
“The first 3 bands didn’t get a large reaction, but as soon as A7x took the stage the crowd swelled forward. They played all Waking The Fallen stuff which was awesome, opening with Second Heartbeat which is probably their best song. There was also Unholy Confessions, Desecrate Through Reverance, Remenissions, Chapter Four, I Won’t See You Tonight Parts 1&2 and Eternal Rest.”
so proof that IWSYTP2 has been played live
Comment by chris January 24, 2011 @ 3:17 amthere’s also evidence in this video that he did start to sing some of the screaming parts, so for anyone that believes they sold out and started singing for a different reason than they say, then this is enough proof
Comment by chris January 24, 2011 @ 3:24 amDude I agree with you. I notticed the samething because there are some parts that are screamed on the album he dident scream. Iam geting the impression here that this when he started to realize he wanted to be known as a singer
Comment by Joe7x January 24, 2011 @ 8:30 amIf you want even MORE proof watch the Chapter Four london video on youtube he sings a ton of the screaming parts
Comment by T3hPlaguez February 14, 2011 @ 2:58 pmthis videos are masterpieces
Comment by foREVer January 24, 2011 @ 3:31 amA7X is hands down my favorite band, and I just saw them live at the Reading show for the 8th time, and it was incredible. However, they had such an energy back then in the Sounding the Seventh Trumpet/Waking the Fallen era. I’m not sure what it is, but it’s there. I’d love for them to go into the studio and make a gritty Waking the Fallen type album again. I’m all for the moving forward progress (Nightmare is a masterpiece), but I do miss a lot of the old A7X elements. God Hates Us was a nice nod to the past though!
Comment by Tommy January 24, 2011 @ 8:34 amits wierd seein them with that little amount of ink xD but this is awesome, i really wished they would play more of their older songs live now, when i was a their concert last year, the only song that was played that was from before City Of Evil was Unholy confessions… Numbers like second heartbeat and Chapter four would’ve really been kickass (well, the concert was anyway but it would’ve been just a tiny bit better)
Comment by Martin Mariboe January 24, 2011 @ 8:53 amOMFG at 33:05, what the Fuck in hell? xDDD god damn, that made me roll on the floor
Comment by Yo January 24, 2011 @ 9:19 amFail. lol

Comment by Neal January 24, 2011 @ 9:45 amDamn Syn and Zack were sloppy as fuck back then. But I’m still ecstatic over this footage. Thanks a lot for posting it!
Comment by A7XEric January 24, 2011 @ 10:17 amHaha, the vocals too man. But it must have still be badass concerts. Energetic ones.
Comment by F S January 24, 2011 @ 9:07 pmYay!! :) Homework can wait
Comment by Hannah_A7X January 24, 2011 @ 10:47 amthis is just awesome and you are even more awesome for posting it dbn. i wish they still played some of the older songs from waking the fallen and sounding the seventh trumpet
Comment by Anonymous January 24, 2011 @ 10:47 amAmazing. The Boys Look Young As Hell. Jimmy Was PERFECT! Thank Yo So Much DBN. This Makes Up For The Lowell Show I Missed. Lol. Kinda :)
Comment by foREVerTJ January 24, 2011 @ 11:01 amA7X foREVerTJ
This is amazing! Shads’ left arm looks so naked without the tattoos… All of them look so young.
I would’ve wanted to be there! Though I’d probably have gotten crushed in the crowd.
It’s so great that these videos pop up when you least expect it, several years later. I hope the guys see it as well, it might be fun for them to watch.
Comment by E January 24, 2011 @ 11:38 amI’m downloading these now! :D I’m gonna put these bad boys on my iPod and watch them tomorrow in study hall:3
Comment by Anonymous January 24, 2011 @ 1:39 pmIs it just me, or did I hear Zacky doing backup screams during some parts of the concert?
Comment by Gabby7x January 24, 2011 @ 2:51 pmmore likely The Reverend Tholomew Plague
Comment by Zachary January 26, 2011 @ 8:49 pmAlso I love how some people boo Johnny when he shows up again near the end of the video. lol poor Johnny xD

Pingback by Top Posts — WordPress.com January 24, 2011 @ 4:10 pmHOLY SUH-NAP!!!! this is awesome footage =) like others have said, they’re a bit sloppy and all over the place, but there’s something so special about them. even if I didn’t know who they are today, I’d start listening based on this video alone. it’s amazing-they had “headline” presence even then.
on a side note, can I just say, I LOVE Shad’s screams/growls here. so much more powerful and aggressive than they are today (don’t get me wrong, I love his voice/sound just as much now). and I can’t get over Zacky and Syn-they look too funny, LOL!
Comment by LittleMissRESENTMENT January 25, 2011 @ 8:51 amReminissions is f*cking insane!!!
Comment by LittleMissRESENTMENT January 25, 2011 @ 8:52 amWow I remember the good ole days…I loved the energy they used to bring to the stage…seeing a7x back then in a small club setting was insane…the circle pits during Lips of Deceit and Turn the Other Way were beyond amazing….damn I’m getting old lol
Comment by Kenny V January 25, 2011 @ 11:12 amPoor Johnny at the end, he’s probably thinking “damned stalkers”
Comment by Alikz January 25, 2011 @ 9:21 pmI was there when i was 13 ! this is so cool ! that was my first show ever besides warped tour, where i discovered a7x for the first time ! Thanks to my older brothers ! :D ive been to every A7x tour that came thru california since then

Comment by stevok January 28, 2011 @ 11:01 pmI went to watch this for probably the 1,000,000th time lol, and the second video won’t work for me all of a sudden? it seems to stop at 5secs and won’t start up again, I can’t seem to skip ahead either.
Comment by Kiel Congiu February 4, 2011 @ 12:29 pm
