one thing i dont understand: i thought the whole johnny christ singing thing was a joke when they first did it, but theyve been having him “sing” for a few months now and, as much as i love johnny and his bass skills, it just doesnt sound good when he yells into the mic during nightmare. i liked it a lot better when zacky was doing it.

Comment by Mark

You love Johnny’s bass skills? So you don’t know what bass skills are, because he sucks ):

And his backing vocals are better than Zacky’s on Nightmare, they’re agressive just like the main idea of the song.

Comment by OddY

ouch, that was pretty harsh.. tbh you cant really judge his bass skills because you never hear them, its drowned out by all the guitar. as for the vocals, if he were screaming it would be fine, but what he does is just plain ugly. i definitely dont want to take anything away from what happened last night though, so im gonna stop complaining and just enjoy the moment haha.

Comment by Mark

agreed. listen to the bassline in Blinded in Chains abd you’ll retract that statement in a milisecond. :)

Comment by Em

Look out for Johnny’s fingers. I’d like to see you play better than him, on-stage notheless.

Comment by Mike

You made my day/night, dude!

Comment by A7xM97@hotmail.com

Johnny mothafuckin Christ is a badass fucking guy – I pretty much agree with all the people here…Try to play what he plays! lol

Comment by Bobbi

i don’t see you up there, contributing to the best record of the year.

Comment by xnov

Johnny is a great bass player. The times he’s stood out both live and on the records prove that. I don’t understand why everyone comes down on him, really. He knows what he’s doing and he does it well; there really should be an award for bass players and he should win.

As to his work in Nightmare live, I think it works. Just like Shads and the others, his voice can have an off night. After all, at KROQ 2007, it was clear that Jimmy was trying to sing while he was sick and no one bitched; lay off Johnny. He did a fine job with his vocals and doesn’t deserve the hate.

Comment by Kel

He doesn’t deserve that hate! TY for saying that. No one can replicate his bass skills. Hes Johnny effing Christ! :) <3

Comment by Em

BEST night of my life!! It was AMAZING. :’D

Comment by foREVer

cnt wait to watch this on TV in May!! (=

Comment by Melissa J

omfg mouth for war sounds fucking amazing! about johnny doin backin in nigtmare i rly think thats the right way to go. zacky is really out of tune when he does it, sounds kinda bad. he and syn should get those vocals lessons matt is/was taking

Comment by gabriel

They are both smokers so that doesn’t help. But compared to the last time I saw them live, Zacky’s vocals have gotten better(:

Comment by Brittany

Really? Did you have to bring up the whole “smoking ruins your voice” point? I’m sorry, but it just really bugs me when people say that….smoking effects people differently.
Anyways.

Comment by Alyssa

Well regardless of effects smoking may or may not have on the voice, it does affect the lungs, which can make it hard to project and to sing in general.

Comment by Rachel

If you smoke heavily and often. I guess I am in somewhat of denial, since I smoke myself…:P

Comment by Alyssa

Except, you know, it’s kind of a fact that smoking adversely “affects” vocals.

Comment by Zack

Personally, I think Johnny sounds great when he does it. I’m glad he and Gates got into that fight and Johnny got punished – who’d have thought that voice could come from such a little guy? XD

Comment by Bobbi

johnny christ rocks…..fuck the haters

Comment by steven kraatz

Yup. Agreed.
Johnny >>>>>>>>>>>>

Comment by Loghen

amen! Love ya Johnny!! <3

Comment by francyA7X

he’s so underrated it makes me mad. we love you johnny <3

Comment by xnov

totally agree. if it came across like i was hating on johnny then i apologize, that is literally the last thing i would think of doing.

Comment by Mark

a band just sounds horrid without bass. people under-appreciate him.

Comment by Em

(:

Comment by EmilyA7X

I love Johnny, and I wouldn’t want to see anyone else behind the bass in A7X. Haters piss me right off, lol :/ x

Comment by Susanna

MINDBLOWING!!!! What a fucking awesome performance of a Pantera classic!!!! Those guys CRUSHED it!!! That is one of the best vocal performances I’ve seen from Matt…EVER!!!! AWESOMSAUCE!!! WTG guys!!!

Comment by Revenant

Oh yeah one more thing….RESPECT to Vinnie Paul and Johnny Motherfuckin Christ!!!!

Comment by Revenant

We all hail Johnny Christ!!

Comment by Kristen

Wheres the “like” button? xD

Comment by Em

hahaha love it!

Comment by francyA7X

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I agree. After all, they went through so many bass players in the beginning and clearly Johnny is right for the group. He’s a great player and doesn’t deserve the hate. His vocals fit well and I’m glad he’s finally getting some mic time.

Comment by Kel

Did someone yell “sing a song” before It’s So Easy? o_O

Comment by Mike

jdsknjf man only the A7X family knows the amazing feeling I get when I listen to them or hear the words “Avenged Sevenfold” they deserved those awards and I’m so happy they got them…foREVer a Deathbat <3
great videos btw ahhhhh sdainvod :DD

Man, I was there last night was fucking awesome. I have now seen them with Jimmy (thank god!!) this very month two years ago at the Nokia Theater, I”ve seen them with Mike P. in Irvine Sept. 2010, and with Arin at Club Nokia last night. All three were one of a kind performances and special in their own way (Jimmy’s last few U.S. shows, the first A7X hometown show since Jimmy passed, and the first hometown show with Arin special for other obvious reasons too). And I’mm happy to say I’ve seen them both times they’ve played “It’s So Easy” with Slash and Duff and both times they kicked ass! Mouth for War was amazing and in general, Arin did an AMAZING job. To top it off I shook Dave Grohl’s hand when he walked by!

Comment by a7xfreakdrummer

Amazing job guys!! I think Matt sang ‘It’s so Easy’ better than Axel!! LOL

Comment by Andrea Lam

i think just about anyone can sing anything better than axel. his voice is like nails on a fucking chalkboard.

Comment by dani

you know what, I might be wrong, but I’m almost positive that this is the first show that they haven’t played “critical acclaim” ever since their self titled album was released back in 2007. I understand why they didnt play it here, but still, crazy to think about!

Comment by steve

why is second heartbeat ten times better live than on the album? lol……..

Comment by steven kraatz

Lol

The first time I heard it was live in the LBC, and I almost got dissapointed when I heard it on the record… :/

So, I agree on the question!

Comment by A7xM97

I love that Duff’s also doing the higher vocal line on It’s So Easy, it really makes the song complete. I’d say this rendition with Duff is better than the one they did with Slash hands down.

(Not enough cowbell, though.)

Comment by Francis

Vinnie Paul on the drums here? What was wrong with Arin playing it lol?

Comment by Anthony Ironmonger

nothing im sure, they just wanted to bring a guest on stage to play like they did with duff.

Mouth for War is one of my favorites by Pantera. It doesn’t seem like anyone there knows it though. I love A7X, but there ‘fans’ really need to get in touch with the roots of the band, or at least a crash course on metal.

Comment by Brady

Totally agree with you…the problem is it wasn’t a mainstream song like Walk was…personally, I think Domination would have a been a cool song for them to cover because if you listen to that particular song you can totally hear Phil Anselmo’s influence on Shadows…go ahead kids, go listen to it and see what I’m talking about

Comment by Kenny V

What’s the band on M Shadows t-shirt? The Apostles? Can’t find anything online about them.

Great night for all you guys and we as fans!!! Good job!!!

Comment by Luca

So motherflippin’ awesome!!!
