By now Avenged Sevenfold fans are ready to grab their cell phones and lighters and light up their respective venues when Avenged Sevenfold perform “So Far Away” in honor of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan and last night in San Jose, CA they didn’t disappoint. With Joe & Barbara Sullivan in attendance the fans did what they could to show their respect, and well, just take a look from 5:30-5:40. Talk about goosebumps. A big thank you goes out to Deathbat News reader Crystal who shot the video and sent it in to be shared. Jinxx from Black Veil Brides also provided a photo with the caption, “So many fucking lighters #foREVer.”
Thanks Sarah for the heads up on the photo.

Saw them Last Friday at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks and when they played So Far Away it actually brought tears to my eyes. I just thought of the two best friends I lost and knew what they felt down to a T.

Comment by Jen December 17, 2011 @ 6:34 pmThis gives me chills. Something similar to this happened when I saw them at Uproar in Noblesville, IN a while back. The entire venue was FILLED with lighters. It was almost like they had turned the house lights back on. It was very emotional, as I’m sure this was as well. It’s great that Joe and Barbara could be there to experience how much their son means to the A7X family and fans. Rest in peace foREVer, Jimmy <3

Comment by Ariane O'Leary December 17, 2011 @ 6:50 pmI was there last night and participated with putting my cell phone up. :3 I cried so much during this especially once I saw the whole room being lit up by the lighters and cell phones. It was so beautiful and reminded me that Jimmy will always be gone but far from forgotten. I also was able to meet Jimmy’s parents last night, they were soooo sweet! Best night of my ENTIRE life. I’m proud to be an A7X fan. <3

Comment by Alex December 17, 2011 @ 9:17 pmAll those lights…so beautiful. Reminds me of the holidays coming up and how Jimmy won’t be here for them. Great tribute to him and I could only imagine what it’s like being his parents and seeing them perform that song and the whole arena filling up with light from the fans. Amazing.

Comment by Dominique Godbout December 18, 2011 @ 9:28 amThe first two times I saw them live, Pointfest 2010, and on the Welcome to the Family tour this song was really emotional for me. Having lost on of my oldest friends just a few months after Jimmy passed, I knew what they were going through, and when I heard this song, it was an extremely great/emotional moment. RIP Jimmy, we all miss you.

I’m glad I captured this moment. I will never forget being at this show, Matt’s voice was so amazing & can feel his emotions through this song. . I also went to the last A7X show thrown last year when they did the same thing…THAT was an emotional moment. I also have it on my youtube account, you just have to go through my videos.
