Many fans were wondering what had gone wrong with M Shadows when Chris Jericho wished him luck with his physical therapy before the Buried Alive tour and now it has been announced. The front-man revealed to Kerrang! Magazine that he had knee surgery earlier on this year to correct a joint problem that left him in constant pain while on stage.
Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows has undergone surgery to his knee so he can continue rocking out onstage.
The vocalist was frequently forced to wear knee braces and hobble around during concerts because a joint problem left him in agony.
Now he’s revealed he had an operation earlier this year (’11) to correct the condition – and he’s delighted his performances are no longer hindered by his painful patella.
The rocker tells Kerrang! magazine, “I had knee surgery because I was in pain all the time; I was wearing knee braces onstage. But finally it’s fixed.

As long as he keeps (kept) up with his PT, he should recover fine. It’s amazing what he does. <3

Damn, I’m glad he’s alright! I know surgery for a knee is usually a last resort move and can be kind of risky.

Agreed. I seen a comment on a earlier post on here where he mentioned it in the Jericho interview (just the part about physical training) but beyond that nothing else was said. I was really worried when I heard that but at least he’s okay now!

I had knee surgery also earlier this year (Jan.) and it sucks recovering from that! I still have problems with mine but I hope Shads made a full recovery and is no longer in pain.

As one with joint problems, it’s hard to hide it sometimes when something really, really hurts; glad he’s getting relief now!
