Schecter Guitars have announced that Johnny Christ has joined their roster. Schecter added that the bass sounds “amazing” and “Johnny worked real hard to get EXACTLY what he wanted.” A full photo of his signature bass can be found here while another photo can be seen here.
Schecter is proud to announce to debut of the JOHNNY CHRIST SIGNATURE BASS. Designed by Johnny himself with the Schecter USA Custom Shop team in Sun Valley California. Johnny’s Bass has an aggressive look and sound that will lay down the low end while also slicing thru the rich melodic riffs of AVENGED SEVENFOLD’s talented guitar duo and longtime Schecter teammates, Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates.
His bass features a never before seen body shape and headstock and is armed with a unique pickup combo of one EMG MM Bass humbucker and one EMG 81 (yes the ever popular GUITAR pickup) This adds a very unique and powerful ‘growl’ to the bass.

That bass is bad ass!! Good for Johnny!
Comment by Bobby sevenfold January 8, 2013 @ 5:39 pmThe middle pickup (there is no neck pickup, just middle and bridge) is apparently an EMG 81, which is a guitar pickup. Supposedly is to add “growl” to the tone when it’s blended in with the bridge pickup. Very unique and interesting choice, I’ve never heard of a guitar pickup being thrown on a bass before. Can’t wait to hear how it sounds.
