I had the honor of visiting with Zacky Vengeance, Warner Brothers Records and The Collective today where I was treated to Avenged Sevenfold’s brand new album “Nightmare” that hits stores on July 27th. Before I go into anything I would like to thank Zacky for welcoming me into his home, sitting me down in his studio where we listened to and talked about some of the new song and treating me like an old friend as we hung out. And, to the fine people at Warner Brothers Records and Larry Jacobson that made me feel like part of the family and the team. The day ended with a special appearance by M Shadows who also treated me as if we have known each other for years. This trip was made possible in large part to Warner Brothers, Rachel Krumm, Kazy Brown, The Collective & Avenged Sevenfold who capped off a special trip out to California that I, for one, will never forget. A few of you guys had mentioned you wanted me to review the album and I was so excited to be given the opportunity to do this for you all. From one fan to another you’ll get my point of view and opinion of the album. Please keep in mind, it’s certainly not the best as I’ve never reviewed an album before but I hope you all get at least a little something out of it.
Avenged Sevenfold couldn’t have picked a better opener then “Nightmare” and while this song was originally part of the planned concept album the band had been working on it sets the mood perfectly for everything you can expect. The xylophone that starts off sends you into an almost dream-like state that one would only wish they were experiencing and could wake up from. You’re lead into heart-pounding drums that awake you from your nightmare, but are you really awake? The drums don’t stop and I don’t think the chants that this song gets from the crowd, you and your friends or even you alone will either. You’re opened and given a taste of what you can expect from the album but honestly, you have no clue nor will you be ready for it.
“Buried Alive” took me about two listens to to warm up to as it starts with a “Hotel California” meets 80’s metal ballad guitar solo and the orchestra that plays behind it simply fits. When the official track-listening for the album was revealed this was not what I was expecting to hear nor do I think anyone was. The way the song soars into the second half is slightly reminiscent of the build-up in “Seize The Day” though much more intense. You’ll get a feel for how the guitars play out as they twist through and remind you of “Demons” but on speed. Fans are treated to a little old-school Avenged Sevenfold as Shadows brings back his signature scream though you only get a taste and you haven’t heard anything yet. It’s like dipping your hand into the cookie jar and only pulling out half the cookie. I love the blowing wind in the background of the second half of the song and the clean break-down you can hear in the last 8 seconds. Keep in mind, this is surely not the last break-down you’ll hear.
When M Shadows said the record would have some pop influence many fans were taken aback. “Welcome To The Family” showcases the pop influence in “Nightmare” with an infectious chorus that you won’t be able to get out of your head. This album has some of the fastest guitar work Zacky Vengeance & Synyster Gates have offered to us over the years with break-downs that are sure to get walls thumping. You’ll be introduced to a little something new when Shadows whispers lyrics while the melodies flow. No album released on the 27th will win the fight against Avenged Sevenfold’s “Nightmare.”
“Danger Line” is a song that walks a fine line between concept and real life. It’ll take you into the life of a soldier and his experiences through war and life before leading into a little real life pain from the band. Dueling guitars at the beginning are incredible ear candy as Shadows begins his stake in the song and delivers experimental vocals and great harmonies. The band introduce you to a marching band towards the ending of the song until a beautiful solo breaks out on top of it and you’re left with the last chorus pulling at your heart strings. Yes, there is whistling, but don’t knock it because you’ll find yourself whistling right along even when youre not listening to the song.
If you were impressed with the opening of Eternal Rest and how in your face this solo is then I’d have a seat before turning “Natural Born Killer” on. There’s no doubt that you’ll listen to this song a few times just to ask yourself, “did they really go there?” And yes, they did. As fast as the song may be you’ll hear a slower chorus though it fits into the mood. You’ll hear drums that sound as though “The Rev” himself were playing away. It’s a lot to take in all at once as there’s pieces of everything flying at you from right to left. Killer riffs, killer drums, killer bass.
I would love to sit here and say that you’ve heard the best ballad to ever come out of Avenged Sevenfold but I would be lying. “So Far Away” takes the top spot and two more songs, “Victim” & “Tonight The World Dies” are right behind it. As you listen to the first chorus of the album you’ll feel the goosebumps rising on your skin, they’ll probably stay their for the remainder of the album. Johnny Christ pulls some amazing bass riffs and Synysters lyrics with Shadows delivering them are perfectly put together. Everyone can relate to this song in some way and you’ll get a deep glimpse into what the band have been through. An acoustic guitar solo breaks into Syn doing his thing the drums behind it demanding your attention and almost haunting you. The emotion in this album was left out on the table for everyone to see.
I was not ready for what would come through the speakers as “So Far Away” ended and “God Hates Us” began. You have never, and I do mean never, heard Shadows scream like you will in this song. When the band said that this song was heavier then ‘Waking The Fallen’ they were not lying at all. You’ll start moving as soon as the guitars come in and won’t want to stop. Johnny Christ’s bass is up front and in your face while the break downs from Synyster and Zacky will cause your ears to get close to erupting even though they’re enjoying it what they’re listening to. The solo’s bend and the ending comes out of no where leaving you wanting more and in awe of what you just experienced. This song is simply insane. It’ll make you feel like you could walk out and take on the world before leaving completely unscathed.
“Victim” will start off much smoother, with church bells to be exact. The opening is beautiful and the band open up completely to their fans. The harmonies in the chorus are moving and there’s no holding back on the pain seeping through. It’s a very groove-oriented track and the last lines and instruments will leave you with a broken heart.
Avenged Sevenfold continue to spill their hearts out in “Tonight The World Dies” with harmonies and guitars that are perfectly prominent throughout. The bass and drums carry the explosive haunting choruses. “Find me on my better days to leave me once again.” You’re met with a few new harmonies through the song, something you wont be used to be you’ll welcome with open arms.
“Fiction” was easily the toughest track to get through. I knew what was coming, I thought I knew what was coming and what to expect, but I didn’t at all. The second the song opens your goosebumps will stand out and your eyes will water as soon as M Shadows & The Rev’s harmonies kick in. The entire thing is completely haunting, which seems to be a theme throughout the second half of the album. The chorus is The Rev alone and you’ll be overcome with emotion feeling like someone kicked you in the chest. It ends with M Shadows & The Rev going back and forth on a verse. This song is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before, it’s a masterpiece.
If you’ve ever wanted to know what just about every Avenged Sevenfold song plus new material and experiment material sound like together then “Save Me” will treat you well. They pull out things they’ve never done before both vocally and musically. Bending guitars will lead you up and down without a stop in sight. Whispering will come in once again and lead you into a perfectly put together song. Nothing is left out. The chorus is met with backing harmonies and the whispering. There’s something for everyone in this song. There’s a solo in which the drums are more forward and while slightly new the execution is perfect. I love the break downs and the bass towards the end is beautiful. Groove-oriented and eclectic chorus will have you all ears. The last repeating verse will numb you. It’s the perfect closer to a haunted album.
Avenged Sevenfold’s “Nightmare” is filled with smooth and experimental vocals where M Shadows doesn’t miss a beat, explosive choruses, twisted and bending guitar work and solos which I believe is Zacky & Synyster’s finest. Johnny Christ doesn’t disappoint, nor has he ever. And, Mike Portnoy did an outstanding job helping the band. This is the best of The Rev’s drum work to date. While the beginning and end are very different it’s also very much the same and the groove of it will help out. The breakdowns are hard, prominent and familiar. This album is proof that Avenged Sevenfold are not afraid to try something new, toy and experiment with genres and they can pull it off while making it their own and better then you could ever imagine. “Nightmare” will leave you feeling numb, your heart pounding and a slight smirk on your face knowing that Avenged Sevenfold have just written the album of the year, the best album they’ve put out so far and the fact that you, the fans, helped them move through in recording it in honor of their brother Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. This album WILL change the world.

Comment by dvengenz July 16, 2010 @ 11:46 pmOh my lord…I am looking forward to hearing the album myself.
To be honest I’m a little scared I won’t like God Hates Us…wasn’t ever a super fan of Shads screaming…but at the same time…I believe if I don’t particularly fall in love with that one song…it’s not a total loss. Ten other songs I am definitely looking forward to listening to.
Amazing review, you should get paid for it. For real.
And you are very lucky to get to meet Zacky etc. :D. I am glad you had a great experience.
Comment by Marlz July 16, 2010 @ 11:47 pmNot a fan of pre-City of Evil? You=Fail
Comment by A7X_D3THBAT_GT July 17, 2010 @ 12:06 amI love some of the songs off WTF. Don’t think that I don’t In fact my top 2 A7X songs are off WTF. Unoly Confessions and Clairvoyant Disease. So do not judge me for what I say I like, thanks. I’m more not a fan of the screaming on STST. Especially the songs where it’s all screaming and no vocal variety. That’s what I meant. That’s why I’m a little scared to hear the song God Hates Us.
I’m sure my fears will NOT be realised and I will probably love it, and also my listening tastes change. 5 years ago if you’d said I’d have even listened to an A7X song at all I would’ve laughed in your face. [I mean you in the collective general sense btw, not you personally]
Comment by Marlz July 17, 2010 @ 12:30 amlol how?
we’re all allowed to have a seperate opinion.
tbh, stst is pretty shit, expect to end the rapture and warmness on the soul.
but then a7x just build on their experience and knowledge get better with every album.
Comment by matt July 17, 2010 @ 12:55 amimagine how nightmare will sound compared to stst
theyve come a long way..
Comment by Ryan July 17, 2010 @ 9:34 amstst is shit??? its such an awesome, inventive raw album…you’re crazy dude
Comment by Pete July 17, 2010 @ 2:11 pmIt’s too cluttered, even the band admit that. Yes, it was okay for where they were at at the time. But they’re much better now.
Comment by Marlz July 17, 2010 @ 9:43 pmI fucking love STST, the WHOLE album. How can you not? Geez…
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 17, 2010 @ 3:21 pmlol no its not..
WTF is where they get good , and then its just amazing from there on.
Comment by matt July 17, 2010 @ 8:11 pmlol yes it is…
Many agree with me, STST is great, listen to it more than once, and it will, well should, sink in and you will, well should, love it.
I find it hard to believe you think it’s shit, seriously.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 9:33 amIt’s not shit imo. Just not as polished as their other stuff.
People are allowed to have their preferences. As long as it doesn’t make other people think they’re less of a fan because of it.
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 4:57 pmlol its rubbish, expect the 2 i refer to eariler.
but you have to make mistakes and write stuff, to open your eyes and become better musicians, im sure a7x see that now.
Comment by matt July 19, 2010 @ 12:49 amJust because some people want to actually hear the lyrics and harmonies doesn’t make them fail. I’d rather hear beautiful singing as opposed to growling that I can’t understand. Music is art, some people like Picasso, while others love Van Gogh.
Comment by Jon July 17, 2010 @ 3:56 amvery well put =)
Comment by Ryan July 17, 2010 @ 8:57 amAlthough the clean vocals were better on the S/T than any other album, I really think the instruments on the previous albums (CoE, WTF, and STST) were miles ahead of the S/T.
Comment by Sam July 17, 2010 @ 12:15 pmThe instruments were DIFFERENT. And like I commented towards another comment, Matt said in an interview it was hard for them to keep producing songs like that because technically it’s too much in one song. Sometimes, simple is much better and can even be stronger.
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 2:44 amall i’m saying.
Comment by haley July 17, 2010 @ 12:20 pmIt bugs me when people compare like and love. I don;t even know why I’m saying this to you. Goodbye
Comment by Steve July 17, 2010 @ 1:25 pmWhat, how?
Comment by Courtney July 17, 2010 @ 2:38 pmgreat review.your lucky!!!
Comment by nightmare July 16, 2010 @ 11:49 pmReading the review of Fiction brought tears to my fucking eyes…..I can’t wait to hear it but I’m going to cry so hard…

Comment by xx THE R3V xx July 16, 2010 @ 11:51 pmMy eyes watered up when reading your review of Fiction.
Comment by Scratch July 16, 2010 @ 11:51 pmSame…….fuck…..I can’t even believe what the song will be like….
Comment by Thomas July 16, 2010 @ 11:54 pmI feel like I have an idea, but like DBN said, I’ll probably be shocked once I hear it. It’s going to be a rough album to listen to.
Comment by Scratch July 17, 2010 @ 11:42 amGreat Review. I’ll probably cry for the first time in a while considering the review for fiction made me sad
Comment by Jake Fee July 16, 2010 @ 11:51 pmOh thats what you did in vengeance manor.
Comment by susanne July 16, 2010 @ 11:51 pmCant wait the countdown begins!!!
I’m so excited you were called in to review the album. A full-fledged fan’s perspective and you certainly deserved it with all the work you put in to keeping us abreast of all things Avenged. So happy for you and dude, now I’m even more excited for the disc. :D
Comment by Jenn July 16, 2010 @ 11:52 pmReading this…had me in tears.
Comment by Ndeye July 16, 2010 @ 11:53 pmIm even more excited now. When i read the fiction part “M Shadows & The Rev’s harmonies with one another kick in” my eyes watered. I can already imagine it. Damn this is too good! Avenged Sevenfold is one of a kind, nothing compares. ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING. I can’t wait AHHH :D
Comment by unknown July 16, 2010 @ 11:53 pmAs soon as I was done reading this review I literally started tearing up. I’m really afraid of what’s to come with this album and how I’m going to react with jimmy’s song. I miss you jimmy now more than ever!
Comment by Courtney July 16, 2010 @ 11:53 pmOn behalf of the fans, THANK YOU for writing this giant review.
What was your favourite song on the album? Or a top 3 that you liked the most.
Are there any past Avenged songs that you would compare God Hates Us to? Maybe from STST or WTF?
I’m stoked.
Comment by [NE]Fobby[GEN] July 16, 2010 @ 11:53 pmWelcome To The Family, God Hates Us & Fiction. NOTHING compares to God Hates Us, nothing.

Comment by BC July 17, 2010 @ 8:14 amThose are the same exact songs I am excited for too but so far away was also on my list though.
Comment by Courtney July 17, 2010 @ 12:03 amSeriously want to go punch your Grandma in the face, right? I believed them when they mentioned that. ;)
Comment by D6661 July 17, 2010 @ 12:10 amCan I get an honest opinion here? I wasn’t a huge fan of a lot of the screaming on WTF and STST should I be worried I won’t like God Hates Us?
Cheers :D.
Comment by Marlz July 17, 2010 @ 12:40 amYou’ll love it. Everyone will.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 12:54 amThank you :D. Hearing that from you, I believe I will. :D.

Comment by Holly July 16, 2010 @ 11:53 pmOh man. As if I didn’t need to be any more excited for this album…I’m now officially dying to hear God Hates Us. The screaming on Buried Alive made my week, and that was just a little tidbit…
Comment by Drew July 16, 2010 @ 11:54 pmWhere was the screaming on buried alive?…twoards the end Is where I heard it
Comment by Schmidt July 17, 2010 @ 10:58 pmYeah, its towards the end. The lines “Hands off me,” “Hands of fate,” “Inferno awaits,” etc. are all screamed. And it made me clap my hands in joy when I heard it. :D
Comment by Drew July 18, 2010 @ 11:51 amI honestly can’t wait for it to come out. I just know it’s going to be more than mind blowing.
Comment by ruth July 16, 2010 @ 11:54 pmyou just gave me chills just describing it…thanks dbn, i really can’t wait…im probably going to cry
Comment by Derek Williams July 16, 2010 @ 11:54 pmSame here! :D

Comment by Dan July 16, 2010 @ 11:55 pmI won’t lie, when I read about ‘Fiction’ I had tears rolling. I think in my opinion, this is the best album. Very excited to hear the album. <3 (:
Comment by Sunny July 16, 2010 @ 11:56 pmi started to cry a bit while reading the review of Fiction. hahah. oops. didn’t mean for that to happen. and thanks for the review DBN. now i’m REALLY looking forward to the album. i can’t wait any longer! i wish my Book of Nightmares would come soon…
Comment by alissa July 16, 2010 @ 11:56 pmafter reading the review of “fiction” i felt a couple tearz roll down my face… i am dying of anticipation for the album
Comment by Vinnce M July 16, 2010 @ 11:56 pmAlso: do you think the album has some of the Rev’s best drum work?
Comment by [NE]Fobby[GEN] July 16, 2010 @ 11:56 pmI think it IS his best drum work.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:38 pmThat’s good to hear. I think his best drum work was in the first album, and that it was kinda lacking in S/T and the couple songs we’ve heard so far off of Nightmare, but there’s still 10 more songs to hear.
Comment by [NE]Fobby[GEN] July 17, 2010 @ 3:08 pmstst doesn’t have the best drum work lol. i guess its opinion, but wtf has the simplest stuff and in my opinion S/T and COE are the most complex.
Comment by Ryan July 17, 2010 @ 3:47 pmMost of S/T was very simplistic dude.
Comment by lollololol July 18, 2010 @ 4:27 pmIt wasn’t really simple, but was the simplest out of the four. Their first 3 albums, especially CoE, were fantastic in terms of drums.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 19, 2010 @ 3:41 pmMatt said that the drum work in STST was insane because Jimmy would just go for it and the rest of the band had to struggle to keep up with him… [not Matt’s exact words…a paraphrase of something he said in an interview].
So, recording wise, that’s not actually very good.
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 2:42 amThis review made me cry a little.
Comment by Yessica July 16, 2010 @ 11:58 pmThank you DBN for the review.
You are very lucky and I’m sure you know that!
Did you take any pictures of zach and matt at all?
I’m excited to hear “God Hates Us” the most since I love the old stuff, but I’m scared as hell to listen to “Fiction”.
Comment by Alex July 16, 2010 @ 11:58 pmIs god hates us screaming through the WHOLE
Comment by Dave Rader July 16, 2010 @ 11:59 pmSong? Half? How much? Lol
You’ll see ;)
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:37 pmReading that made me emotional and so much more anxious to hear the album for myself.
Comment by ashleigh July 16, 2010 @ 11:59 pmTears stung my eyes as I read the review of Fiction.

Comment by Joshua Berman July 17, 2010 @ 12:11 amI have to say.. Reading this is making me anticipate the new album even more. Especially reading the review for ‘Fiction’.. I think that’ll be the best song on the album just knowing that was written and performed partially by The Rev. When this album comes out, every A7X fan will be greatful and Jimmy will be smiling on us.

I just shit my pants while reading this. I am paralyzed and I need diapers for the next 10 days because my body cannot function and I cannot maintain sanity until my ears are filled with the sound of the heavens that will be delivered through this album.
Comment by Michael July 17, 2010 @ 12:13 amThat is exactly the same way I feel
Comment by Daymo July 19, 2010 @ 5:17 amFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKK….and I thought I was anticipating this before! I have this aching feeling in me I literally cant take it anymore. This sounds damn amazing and thank you for the review even if it did further pain me to read it.
Comment by TonyT July 17, 2010 @ 12:15 amWow! I finished reading this review as the clock struck midnight, ten days until I have this album in my hands. I am very envious of you right now, but I hope you had a great time with Zacky and the rest of the crew. I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this review, all the anxiousness is now gone and the void filled with excitement. DBN you wrote a great review without spoiling anything. I think I speak for all of the fans of Deathbat News, and Avenged Sevenfold when I say thank you for running this site. So that us fans have a place to come and have good conversation, and get news on everything Avenged Sevenfold before we get it anywhere else. I’m being completely honest when I say I probably wouldn’t even get one percent of the news on Avenged, that I do if Deathbat News wasn’t here. So thank you for everything you’ve done.
Comment by Colton July 17, 2010 @ 12:17 amgrrr u took my comment haha nah its kool dude man i love this site its my home page hehe
Comment by Joshua Berman July 17, 2010 @ 12:28 amYou are so lucky, but thank you for writing this review. It brought tears to my eyes reading your review of Fiction. I do have a question though, how did you get to hear it? Like, did you contact Warner Bros. and ask or did the band contact you? It’s so awesome, and again, thank you for writing this. July 27th will, indeed, be a very bittersweet day.
Comment by Henderson July 17, 2010 @ 12:17 amThis is very well written. Not not hard to see that you’re a huge fan and you have a lot of respect for what they do, so I find I can relate to your review better than any other that I’ve read.
Comment by VixenVengeance July 17, 2010 @ 12:18 amJust when I thought my anticipation was going bonkers…
Can’t wait.
You give me goosebumps in anticipation!
Comment by Kayla July 17, 2010 @ 12:19 amAfter reading this review I’m super excited to hear God Hates Us

Comment by Ava July 17, 2010 @ 12:23 amDammit, you made me tear up…
Beautiful review, I loved it.
It makes me just all the more anxious for the album. I’m sure it is every bit of what you said it was, I have no doubt about it.
Thank you for posting this, I enjoyed reading it, and I’m sure the rest of the A7X fanbase can say the same, =].
Take care!

Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 11:18 amSame here. I plan on watching their All Excess DVD, then popping in the CD and listening without disturbance.
Comment by Scratch July 17, 2010 @ 11:47 amWhat about the bonus track “Lost it All”? That will probably be a surprise for all of us..
Comment by Alex July 17, 2010 @ 12:24 amIf your talking about the iTunes exclusive track, It’s a “non album” bonus just for itunes..meaning it wont have anything to do with the album
Comment by Casey July 17, 2010 @ 12:57 amNo it just means it’s not on the album… it doesn’t mean it won’t have anything to do with the album.
Comment by Marlz July 17, 2010 @ 1:28 amThank you SO incredibley much for this wonderfully detailed description of every song. I can only imagine how emotional it had to be for you. And I appreciate you going through the bittersweet emotions all over again for us.
Comment by D6661 July 17, 2010 @ 12:28 amHey DBN – y’know that solo/jam that Syn and the Rev and ZV and Johnny played in 2009 – is that implemented onto a song on the new record?
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer July 17, 2010 @ 12:29 amIt doesn’t sound like it. Who knows, maybe it’s “Lost it All”.
Comment by Colton July 17, 2010 @ 7:43 amThat’s what i’m also dying to know?
Comment by JF July 17, 2010 @ 10:22 amshe’s not gonna answer that lol, thatd give too much away
Comment by Ryan July 17, 2010 @ 12:11 pmHonestly, I wasn’t specifically listening for it so Im not sure.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:28 pmi know exactly what these guys are talking about and i think it does have something to do with lost it all cause all the videos of it are being pulled from youtube
Comment by zachrabit July 24, 2010 @ 9:59 pmWow… I woke up after having an amazing dream about what I think is fiction… I was in my car going to walmart, not sure what for, but i was listening to the self-titled album. As i parked and got out of my car, i heard what sounded like the rev singing something. As the cong ended, the final lines in the chorus were sang by both Jimmy and Shads. Needless to say, I woke up crying…
Comment by Alikz July 17, 2010 @ 12:30 amOmg man I get dreams about the new album too. One I had was when I listened to Victim, It was so smooth and mellow, and really dream-like. Bit of Pink Floyd influenced stuff but orchestral
Comment by FretMuppet July 17, 2010 @ 11:24 amomg im not alone!!!!!!!!! i dream about it all the time too!!!!
Comment by Kaylee July 17, 2010 @ 3:12 pmSo the question is…how much cowbell was there?
Comment by Francis July 17, 2010 @ 12:30 amMORE COWBELL!!
Comment by BC July 17, 2010 @ 12:52 amSee even cows will like listening to the album ;). I hear playing music to cows makes their milk taste better…lol.
Comment by Marlz July 17, 2010 @ 1:23 amhmm they need to do a study to see what type of music is better for the…bet its some A7X:)
Comment by BC July 17, 2010 @ 8:17 amLOL
Comment by Scratch July 17, 2010 @ 11:48 amThat is a tested fact, my friend.
Comment by Sam July 17, 2010 @ 1:27 pmThis review somewhat makes me already feel like I’ve had the wind knocked out of me but in a good way. Although we will listen to the album and mourn, we will be grateful for the beautiful music Jimmy left behind for the entire A7X Family
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 12:31 ami think … i just jizzed
this has made me even more eager to get this album. the feeling i had when reading about ‘Fiction’, a standout to others, was overwhelming. this album will change my life and i can’t wait another 10 days
Comment by Jordan July 17, 2010 @ 12:33 amIt’s really great to read a review from a fan… and a very good review too… it made me want the album even more (and I didn’t think I could want it any more…)
I cannot wait to hear Fiction, So Far Away, God Hates Us, Danger Line, and Save me… Those are the 5 songs I really cannot wait to hear and your review makes them sound amazing… also, I like the name Tonight The World Dies… another song I’m really looking forward to hearing… and of course there’s the 3 other songs I want as well… Nightmare and Buried Alive are great (I’ve had Buried Alive on repeat since they release it.)
OK, I talked a little too much about myself there… GREAT review. You were very lucky to meet them and hear the album, I guess that’s always going to be something you’ll NEVER forget…
Comment by PM7X July 17, 2010 @ 12:34 amGood job on running the site too, you deserved it.
Thank you DBN! I know I was one of the ones asking for a personal review from you. This did nothing but make the anticipation ridiculous! Glad you got to meet all of us die-hard A7X fans’s heroes.
Comment by Terrance Phifer July 17, 2010 @ 12:36 amthank you so much for this, i guess i’ll have to go to hibernation for the next ten days, i can’t wait another second. oh, one more thing i’d like to know, is the intro that the band played in 09 after Syn’s solos on the album?
Comment by Private Donut July 17, 2010 @ 12:38 amI’ve been waiting so long for that answer. I hope so.
Comment by Colton July 17, 2010 @ 12:46 amWow I feel very happy for you dbn. That must have been fun. Great review!!! Only 10 days. this is testing my patience. God hates us is going to be sick!! and fiction with Only the rev singing the chorus is going to be great too! still very very sad :(
Comment by Neil July 17, 2010 @ 12:42 amI wonder what time on the 27th we’ll get the album on iTunes because I ordered it on that too and it would be amazing if we got it at 12:00 am.
Comment by Courtney July 17, 2010 @ 12:42 amim hoping we will so i could stay up all night and listen to it
Comment by BC July 17, 2010 @ 12:53 amEither way I’m staying up after midnight just to be on the safe side.
Comment by Courtney July 17, 2010 @ 1:23 amwell the nightmare single was released where i was at like 10:00 the 17th, so maybe we can hear it before.
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 6:53 ami stay up past midnight every night anyways but this may be longer:)
Comment by BC July 17, 2010 @ 8:18 amDepending on where you are in the country, you might get it earlier. I’ve gotten releases at 10 PM Central Time pretty constantly off iTunes.
Comment by marblez July 17, 2010 @ 8:28 amWell I live in California so I don’t know when I’ll get it.
Comment by Courtney July 17, 2010 @ 4:18 pmWow. I guess I’m checking iTunes at 10:00.
Comment by Tanner July 19, 2010 @ 8:03 amI know me too. I probably won’t gay any sleep at all next Tuesday:)
Comment by Courtney July 19, 2010 @ 10:17 amHaha I meant *get any sleep
Comment by Courtney July 19, 2010 @ 2:14 pmThe Nightmare single was supposed to be released on the 18th [May] and I got it at around 11pm on the 17th.

Comment by Humberto July 17, 2010 @ 1:18 amFoREVer!
Hey DBN! Great review, bit is the instrumental they had been playing at the live shows in any of the songs on this album? Thanks!
Comment by james July 17, 2010 @ 1:28 amHonestly I wasn’t specifically listening for it so Im not sure.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:28 pmDid you hear “Lost It All”? Just a preview or anything?

Comment by Kris July 17, 2010 @ 1:41 amI never doubted how awesome this album will be. and the review proves it really, Avenged sevenfold for life. And I honestly mean this. They are truly amazing. And anyone who can lose a brother, and continue to make his dream of the album come true and make it one of their best, really do have to be one of the greatest bands to have walked the face of the earth! foREVer!!
I hate you! I hate you so much! In a good way. If someone deserved something like this, you do
Comment by JIK July 17, 2010 @ 1:41 amDBN,
If I could have chosen anyone to meet Zacky, Matt and Val, and listen to the album and give it a review, it would definitely by YOU!
If anyone deserves it, you do, I cannot stress how happy I am for you!
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 17, 2010 @ 7:18 amDbn a lot of people have said that god hates us is a direct kind of ‘attack’ at god. Is it true?
Comment by Omar July 17, 2010 @ 2:04 amLol, no it’s more a direct attack on how God Hates Us. :P Otherwise the song would be called We Hate God. lol.
Comment by Marlz July 17, 2010 @ 6:44 amI lol’d.
Comment by Anonymous July 18, 2010 @ 12:48 pmI don’t think its an attack on God at all, more-so just a really pissed off insane song.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:27 pmpissed off insane sounds good ;).
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 2:38 amWho Cares If Its An Attck At God Anyway. I Wouldnt Blame Them If It Was. Think About It.. He Just Took Thier Brother/Best Friend. Dont You Think You Would Have Some Sort Of Aggression Towards God? They Were Wanting To Put Out How Their Feelings About The Situation Of Rev Passing. And Anger Is Probably One Of Those Feelings.
Comment by Derek July 17, 2010 @ 10:53 pmYeh anger is definitely an emotion they would feel…and I won’t go into what I believe about God…because I don’t want to incite arguments.
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 5:10 pmJust to clarify, I have no problem with them getting angry at God…;).
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 5:10 pmHey DBN owner, Im sorry I called you ‘dude’ :D I thought you are a man.
I wish I could also meet A7X someday..
Comment by ChrisA7X July 17, 2010 @ 2:05 amYou are so lucky that you have gotten to hear the new record, DBN! You are completely deserving though… I’M NOT WORTHY! Well, I am, but I must wait. I am too drunk to be on this website right now… Looks like I get to see the new video for the first time… wasted. This’ll be an experience!

That must have been so awesome, and I’m glad you listened to YOUR fans, just like a7x listen to theirs, and kindly did a review :)
You’ve made my day :D
Truly incredible review. I was afraid to read it at first because I thought you might spoil it a little bit too much for me, but you did it perfect. Thank you. :) I also teared up when reading your review of fiction. Just wow.
I really cannot wait for this album. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anything more in my entire life than this album. This album WILL change the world!
Comment by TheGrimHreeper July 17, 2010 @ 2:51 amThank you for sharing details about the upcoming release! I like that you end with what Jimmy told Matt, this album will change the world. now I just need someone to hold my hand while I listen to Fiction :(

It’s great that you met Zacky and Matt…
¡¿But you met Val?!!
lol, I kinda have a crush on her since the Seize The Day video.
Thank you for the review.
Comment by Danniel July 17, 2010 @ 3:30 amYou didn’t ruin the surprise, you used the exact words. We all really appreciate it :)
Haha, that’s what I thought. It’s an utter privalege to meet Matt and Zacky, but it’s also an honour to meet Val too, I love her, she’s sooo awesome.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 9:01 amit just sucks that people will be listening to the leaks instead of waiting for the actual day. kinda defeats the purpose of a release date. but not me! im waiting. no matter what. who is with me?
Comment by Neil July 17, 2010 @ 3:41 amI was like you. I pre-ordered my copy on Itunes. But after reading the review I’m getting the leak. I just can’t hold out anymore. Either way Avenged is getting my money. They always do…
Comment by Chase July 17, 2010 @ 11:23 amMe! I am buying it on iTunes AND from the store. Gotta have my album art lol.
Comment by Scratch July 17, 2010 @ 11:50 amI’m doing the same thing too!!!
Comment by ^britt^ July 18, 2010 @ 10:15 pmI’m definitely waiting. But if I hadn’t pre-ordered the Book of Nightmares I’d probably give in and get the leak.

Comment by Marie July 17, 2010 @ 4:29 amIm speechless….
Ive just read the review and had to wipe tears from my eyes….i can see that not only will this be the single best album of this year, but also that you, DBN, are an amazing writer and have managed to capture in words what many could not, not only about the album but also the emotions and feelings every A7X fan will go through hearing tis album.
And for that, we thank you collectively. You deserved to meet Zacky V and M. Shadows, its a wonderful way of thanking a truly amazing person.
Here’s hoping to see them in concert when they come to the UK!
Comment by Naomi July 17, 2010 @ 4:30 amThanks again DBN.
Great review, I’m even more excited now! And I am SO JEALOUS.
Comment by Georgia July 17, 2010 @ 4:58 amHey DBN, what’s your least favorite song? And please be honest, i’m bracing for the worst :P
And also, thank you very much for taking the time to write this very detailed and elaborate review.
Comment by Phil A7X July 17, 2010 @ 5:01 amYou must have enjoyed yourself hanging out with Zacky, Matt and Val!
I envy your life

Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 1:28 pmI honestly and truly love absolutely every song on the album.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:22 pmYou have no idea how relieved i am right now. Thanks a lot DBN!
Comment by Phil A7X July 17, 2010 @ 2:26 pmWow, thankyou for this! i really can not wait for the album and to see them live!! =D but man this is gonna be the hardest album to listen to and the hardest gig i will have ever been to
Comment by Shell July 17, 2010 @ 5:03 amquestion for dbn, what other songs beside god hates us and buried alive have screaming?if any, im just curious because i love all a7x albums from stst to self titled album and im sure ill love nightmare too
Comment by sergio July 17, 2010 @ 5:09 amThere’s his normal hard hitting vocals throughout the entire thing, but God Hates Us is the only song that he really screams on.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:19 pmis it actually similiar to the waking the fallen screaming? or just like the critical acclaim stuff.
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 5:10 pmIt’s not similar to any of that.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 5:17 pmOh oh ohhh
Comment by Courtney July 17, 2010 @ 9:02 pmyou just gave me goosebumps
That means were going to hear a whole new screaming from Matt!!
Can you at least understand the lyrics? That’s important.
Comment by Anonymous July 18, 2010 @ 10:34 pmOhh kul,thankz 4 da answer I can’t wait till 27!!! 10 more days!
Comment by Sergio July 17, 2010 @ 7:24 pmThank you DBN for such a fantastic review.
You’ve done such an amazing job running this site, that if anyone deserved to review the album; it’s you. Without wanting anything, you have forged yet another link between the fans and the band, keeping us up-to-date with all things Avenged. For that I love you.
Glad you had a great time! And now I can’t wait to hear this album. Bring on the Nightmare!
Comment by Kace July 17, 2010 @ 5:46 amI really hope they keep making records after this cause if they stop it’s would be like having your pacemaker taken out! It’s sumthing you need to live and that’s what a7x is a pacemaker for so many people a release from life from work school and people while I am in no way tired of any song they’ve made it’s just so cool to see what comes out of such amazing artists!
Comment by Lee July 17, 2010 @ 5:54 amA7X foREVer!!!!!!!!
I don’t remember in which interview, but I remember one of the band members saying something among the lines of “We can’t picture ourselves making music with any other people” and that they’d probably just kill the name “Avenged Sevenfold” for Jimmy’s sake. and start a new with a different name but still consisting of Shadows, Gates, Zacky and Johnny
Comment by Phil A7X July 17, 2010 @ 10:29 amthey said they were torn between that and continuing. cause jimmy would want them to go on but they didn’t want to without their brother.
in my opinion i think they’ll take a little of both and stop a7x but continue under a new name.
that way they’ll be honoring what jimmy would’ve wanted but keep a7x within the 5 of them.
i used to want a7x to continue, but now i’m not sure. it wouldn’t really be quite the same, considering jimmy was the main contributor to much of their music.
i for sure want more from them, but out of all of the members, jimmy was the one i’d felt closest to.
it’s like pinkly smooth, their music is incredible, but adding to their discography without all the founding members would ruin their unique sound.
but then again, this album should be remembered by all as jimmy’s last work not as a7x’s last album. i don’t want the end of avenged sevenfold to cloud that.
either way, it’s not up to any of us. i would be MORE than satisfied with either decision. worst case scenario is they quit, or can’t make it without jimmy…
this whole 6 months has been crazy…..
thank god this album is coming out to quench my thirst lol.
Comment by Ryan July 17, 2010 @ 3:44 pmSo did Syn put that solo with everyone in a song or not?
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 6:10 amI’m thinking that it’ll probably be on So Far Away, if any. Hoping for it though! :)
Comment by Spiffy July 18, 2010 @ 3:11 pmYou are lucky… fuck, you are probably one of the luckiest people to be able to listen to this album. I think, actually, I KNOW it will blow every album away!
Comment by Alyssa July 17, 2010 @ 6:16 amoh my god you’re so lucky but totally deserve it for running such a kick ass site.Great review i’m even more excited now.
Comment by Julie July 17, 2010 @ 6:20 amSo this was your vacation huh? Wow I wish I was you lol and I could not be more excited for this album I have never wanted to hear an album more

Comment by London July 17, 2010 @ 7:02 amYou sneaky woman.. you had us all believing you were actaully going on vacation! LOL Sounds like you had the most fantabulous time & I am so happy for you! Thank you for the review. Yours was different. Maybe because we ‘know’ you.. I don’t know. But for the first time, a review actually gave me goosebump & a small thought of ‘oh boy, do I really want to hear this??’ I am super excited for the album & I am stoked to be seeing them on the 27th. I have no doubts that A7X will be hitting the charts fast & changing the world!!
Comment by Andrea July 17, 2010 @ 7:09 amLucky thing. I honestly envy you… :)
Although, this review just makes me even more impatient! I just can’t wait to hear these songs now!
Comment by Aanchel July 17, 2010 @ 7:13 amBtw, did you not get to hear ‘Lost It All’?
Comment by Aanchel July 17, 2010 @ 7:14 amI didn’t, no.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:52 pmDid they say anything at all about lost it all? Im very curious to wat they had too say about it. .
Comment by Neal July 25, 2010 @ 10:06 amSo I thought you were gonna review like…the video or something. This is just fucking epic. You really deserved it,and I bet it was an amazing experience. I almost cried reading the fiction review, but I’m just stunned you actually got to see them. I always knew DBN was badass, but you just crossed that line! Love this site forever <3 Can't Wait for the new album.
Comment by Derek July 17, 2010 @ 7:34 amI am extremely looking forward to “Nightmare”,I’ve benn waiting for it for the last year!…..I am a HUGE fan of Avenged Sevenfold!I Love ALL their Fucking Albums and I mean ALL!….Everyone has their own opinion, and mine of Sounding The Seventh Trumpet is that it is a very good album.I say fair play to them as they made it when they were still in Highschool, thats a fucking a achievement to.As a Album it is good, the songs are all good, and have metal, hardcore and punky type influences which is awesome. But I believe the recording was Rushed and the studio wasn’t great.I Believe if the production of the album was better people would like it more.
Waking The Fallen is one of the best albums ever,it is just simply amazing and if “Nightmare” tops it that would be incredible. As Waking The Fallen is one of my favourite albums ever.
In my opinion A7X never sold out, they wanted to change their sound becuase they wanted to not because they were told to.So City of Evil is also a Amazing Album.
The self Titled album was brilliant there waas something on it that everyone could enjoy!JUST SIMPLY INCREDIBLE.
I love the Diamonds in The Rough besides cd aswell!
Can’t Wait for this fucking album!!!!!!!
Comment by JKA7X July 17, 2010 @ 7:44 amI just started crying when I read your blurb about “Fiction”.
Comment by Ashley July 17, 2010 @ 7:45 amThe closing paragraph actually brought a tear to my eye. Can’t wait to hear it.
It’s really awesome that you got to do this, you really deserve it for all that you’ve done.
and it’s an amazing review [=.
Comment by GrungePrincess July 17, 2010 @ 7:48 amDamn, I didn’t think it was possible but I am even more anxious for the album then I already was. 10 more days, longest 10 days of my life. Can’t wait to just sit home and listen from beginning to end.
Comment by Ghostflames83 July 17, 2010 @ 8:02 amOur nightmare will begin in 10 days ! weee
Comment by Sam July 17, 2010 @ 8:05 amThis is the only review I’ve read of the album so far, knowing that only a fan truly understands the way Avenged works. DBN, you’re my hero, no joke. Great review, and I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m not 324083408324 times more excited for this.
Comment by Ashley July 17, 2010 @ 8:10 amThank you!
*now….I didn’t mean to put not. haha
Comment by Ashley July 17, 2010 @ 8:11 amI can’t wait for this album, and I can’t wait to hear Fiction. It’s going to take a lot for me to not skip to it from the get go.
Comment by Lauren July 17, 2010 @ 8:12 amYou’re very lucky to have that experience; I’m jealous. :P
AMAZING review…I can’t wait to hear it! So jealous of your trip, though!
Comment by Lauren July 17, 2010 @ 8:16 ami really can’t wait to hear it now!!! you’re so lucky!!!
Comment by Zacorra July 17, 2010 @ 8:27 amCan’t wait to hear The Rev’s voice on “fiction”.
Comment by walnuts July 17, 2010 @ 8:29 amRIP foREVer
You are sooo lucky!! Great review. It gave me goosebumps reading about each song and makes me more anxious to hear it all. I love Nightmare & Buried Alive and after reading your review, I don’t think I will be disappointed by a single song on the album. A7x FoREVer! Thank you! ^v^
Comment by lala268 July 17, 2010 @ 8:35 amyeah shes lucky to be able to listen to this album early but the big thing is she got to listen to it with zacky matt and val thats even better :)
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 8:44 amJust reading “The chorus is The Rev alone and you’ll be overcome with emotion feeling like someone kicked you in the chest.” and my eyes watered. I think we all better get the tissues ready, this is going to one emotional album.
Comment by Sami July 17, 2010 @ 8:51 amDBN, this has got to be one of the nicest things I’ve read on my birthday :P And to fellow a7x fans I CAN’T FKING WAIT FOR THE ALBUM’S RELEASE!
Comment by Amanda July 17, 2010 @ 9:00 amSo DBN, what was your favorite line of lyrics in the album? Or a couple Lines?
Comment by Dave Rader July 17, 2010 @ 9:05 amNow that I can’t give away!
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:47 pmi would have just said something from Nightmare or Buried Alive:)
Comment by BC July 17, 2010 @ 9:03 pmBut my favorite lyrics arent in Nightmare or Buried Alive!
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 9:07 pmi know but then everyone would think that they got something new when they really didnt:)
Comment by BC July 17, 2010 @ 9:11 pmHoly Sweet Baby Jesus I cannot wait any longer for this album.
Comment by Sam July 17, 2010 @ 9:07 amWhat a great review…thanks for giving me something to make the wait feel a lot better can’t wait…but one question doesn’t brian haner sr. play guitar on so far away? Either way thanks for the amazing review…July 27th!
Comment by Farris July 17, 2010 @ 9:21 amYes he does.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:46 pmWiill openly admit that I teared up while reading this review I can’t wait!, only 10 days away annd ill see avenged sevenfold in concert and listen to album!
Comment by malicious grimm July 17, 2010 @ 9:25 amhey deathbatnews, what what was your favorite a7x almum before nightmare?
Comment by jy July 17, 2010 @ 9:26 amWaking The Fallen & City Of Evil are both tied.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:45 pmAhaha me too, I may have to tilt towards Waking The Fallen though, what a fantasic album. Although, after hearing Buried Alive and your review DBN Lady, I think Nightmare may replace Waking The Fallen, ahhh but who knows. All I know is I simply cannot wait.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 8:57 amI enjoyed City of Evil slightly more because Im a very melodic person. After hearing this album though, it’s taken my top spot without a doubt.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 9:09 amCoE is as melodic as an album can get, especially with The Wicked End, Sidewinder etc and that is why I love it. I’m such a metal lover, and that is why I love WtF and STST.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 9:42 amNow I want to hear Nightmare even more if it has taken your top spot! xD
So is the album 66 minutes long? and btw, are you ever going to tell us your name, DBN woman, or should we all just keep calling you that? The album truly sounds amazing.
Comment by Luke July 17, 2010 @ 9:47 amfoREVer
You can keep calling me DBN woman ;)
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:44 pmlol, alright DBN woman!
Comment by Luke July 18, 2010 @ 11:47 pmI almost cried when I found out DeathBatNews was run by a sissy little girl! She probably doesn’t even know how to spell The Rev. :-*
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 9:49 amAw, sorry to disappoint!
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:40 pmits ok DBN woman, thats only one person who dislikes you :D
Comment by Neil July 18, 2010 @ 7:36 amThis is clearly ur first time on this site. So just to give u a heads up, this site is AMAZING even if it is run by a girl. And a bet she could kick ur ass… “sissy” haha
Comment by Schmidt July 18, 2010 @ 10:29 pmdude stfu i dont care whether dbn is run by a girl or a boy its a great news service for the best band ever and you should be grateful.
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 3:07 pmi think it was sarcasm but still agree lol
Comment by Ryan July 17, 2010 @ 3:33 pmIt’s nice to see people defending the DBN lady either way :D It shows our appreciation :)
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 12:25 am“sissy little girl”?
Wow, you fail.
Comment by Scratch July 18, 2010 @ 10:10 amI agree hahaha. fail.
Comment by james July 18, 2010 @ 8:37 pmDAMN!
Comment by luke July 17, 2010 @ 9:53 amIt sounds like its going to be super crazy and then REALLY sad
DBN I’d like to tell you that out of the reviews and previews of the album that everyone has heard – your was truly the best. You’re one luck girl, DBN girl ;) Can’t wait for the 27th
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer July 17, 2010 @ 9:58 amlucky
Comment by safae July 17, 2010 @ 10:11 ami can’t wait until 27 July lol
vivement le 27 Juilletttt
It may have been said before, but DBN when you were talking about Natural Born Killer, I think you mean the beginning solo of Eternal Rest not Radiant Eclipse.
Comment by Travis M July 17, 2010 @ 10:24 amYes, I totally meant Eternal Rest, Hah. In my defense, I had an incredibly busy and exciting day and didn’t get around to writing the review until around 12am PST so my brain was fried! Forgive me?
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:39 pmOf course I forgive you! You do an excellent job with this site, all mistakes are easily understood considering how hectic A7X’s world is.
Great review as well, made me even more stoked for this album! Thanks DBN!
Comment by Travis M July 17, 2010 @ 3:19 pmEven if you meant “Eternal Rest”, I’d have to say that “Radiant Eclipse” has one of my favourite intros. So I can see how you could make that mistake.
Comment by Colton July 18, 2010 @ 12:03 amThis review was freaking INCREDIBLE!! I couldn’t read it fast enough! lol. I am super excited for this album to come out. Hopefully my “Book of Nightmares” accidentally comes early. haha. This was a very intense review and I hope you feel like the luckiest person in the world right now, because you are!
Comment by Jamie July 17, 2010 @ 11:05 amLOVE IT….. I have a feeling its something Imma have to get use to without the Rev being there…. but I know that the record will be GREAT… and I can only HOPE that the band will decide to continue to make AWESOME records…. until their 80….. LOL :)
Comment by Jessica July 17, 2010 @ 11:09 amlol, when they’re 80 and I’m 75, I will still have major love for Syn Gates :P
Comment by Scratch July 18, 2010 @ 10:12 amwow im happy for you (:
Comment by apchino627 July 17, 2010 @ 11:16 amand thank you for sharing ;)
i think……yup,i pissed myself! pretty excited here. btw, will you marry me mrs. dbn? you are one lucky motha
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 11:23 amYou lucky woman :P
Comment by Drunoctis July 17, 2010 @ 11:26 amI so wanna hear the song :D
Cant wait.
And yes, thats my first time buying an album and not downloading it…i would feel guilty.
Wow DBN you are lucky. Congrats. So was Fiction really good or are you just saying that because of what it’s about.
Comment by Chase July 17, 2010 @ 11:32 amIt blew me away. Chilling and beautiful.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:26 pmawesome. I’m so excited. So one last question. Were the guitar solos best on this album?
Comment by Chase July 17, 2010 @ 3:31 pmI think everything is the best work on this album.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 3:49 pmOk last question this time I swear. In your opinion what song was the best drumming wise? The song with the best double bass and crazy fills?
Comment by Chase July 17, 2010 @ 4:32 pmHonestly, there was SO much to take in from each song both technically and emotionally that it’s hard to even remember it all. Some of the songs I got to listen to twice, some of them only once, so it wouldnt be fair of me to pick based off of slight memory.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 4:58 pmOh ok that’s understandable.
Comment by Chase July 17, 2010 @ 6:10 pmis fiction like a little piece of heaven in a way?? or is it unique?
Comment by austin July 18, 2010 @ 3:21 pmWell look at you, you lucky duck. ;)
Glad to hear that the album will be amazing. Although, I knew it would be. :) You’re a very lucky woman. <3
Comment by Cassie July 17, 2010 @ 11:37 amAh Eternal Rest! It makes sense now! Lol :)
Comment by Moshiz July 17, 2010 @ 11:45 amBeautiful.
Comment by Elli July 17, 2010 @ 11:55 amI cannot wait for the album
Comment by rev4ever July 17, 2010 @ 12:13 pmIs it just me or does it seem like the Rev is really playing the songs? I know its Mike but I feel the Rev’s soul behind it, not coz he made it but it just feels like him
Comment by FretMuppet July 17, 2010 @ 12:25 pmIt’s not just you. I feel the same way. When I listen to Nightmare and Buried Alive, I think “Wow, great drumming Jimmy” then I realize it’s not him. Definitely his soul and spirit behind Mike’s drumming.
Comment by Scratch July 18, 2010 @ 10:13 amWell don’t forget all the drum parts were written and demo’d by Jimmy. Plus Jimmy could’ve visited Mike from heaven and possessed him with Jimmy Demons when recording the drum parts :)
Comment by Anonymous July 19, 2010 @ 3:10 amThis is an amazing review. I love how every review I’ve seen has said it’s amazing except for that one c**t haha
Comment by Matt July 17, 2010 @ 12:36 pm10 FUCKING DAYS HELL YEAH! foREVer!
Comment by Rya7Xn July 17, 2010 @ 12:37 pmGreat review, DBN. You had me a little misty-eyed, and I’m a dude. I look forward to inevitable emotional experience I’ll have when I finally get to hear this album for myself. Keep up the great work!
Comment by Johnnie July 17, 2010 @ 12:59 pmthis review is amazing guys! thank you!! 27th really cant come fast enough
Comment by Chris July 17, 2010 @ 1:44 pmI was eating some cake when i read the reviews. i enjoyed every single one! but i almost cried when i read the reviews about fiction.
Comment by ESPimp July 17, 2010 @ 1:56 pmfoREVer
oh my god… it sounds so fucking amazing… i reaally want to hear it :0. i. cant. wait. i. cant. wait. i. cant. wait. i. cant. wait.
Comment by Hannah B July 17, 2010 @ 2:29 pmseems like ive been waiting foREVer to hear this album…
One final question, DBN.
Comment by Phil A7X July 17, 2010 @ 2:32 pmWhat’s M Shadows screaming voice like in God Hates Us? Is it like back in WTF? I always imagined it to be a lot deeper
The best way I could describe it is growl like screaming from the depths of Hell.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:42 pmwas the live solo thing that syn done with the rest of the band on the album?
Comment by Lewis July 17, 2010 @ 2:46 pmDidnt specifically listen for it so I cant answer that.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:49 pmand you really deserved to have met the guys and to hear nightmare early this review has got me so excited for the album!!!!
Comment by Lewis July 17, 2010 @ 2:49 pmso like could u compare it to another song from WTF or STST?…Please?
Comment by C-Vengz July 18, 2010 @ 3:22 pm^^^^^^^^
Comment by C-Vengz July 18, 2010 @ 3:23 pmI mean compare the song god hates us to a song from thos 2 albums…like screaming wise?
She’s just said it’s nothing like any of them…she says in the review we’ve never heard Shads scream like he does in it…
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 5:06 pmHis screaming in God Hates Us is absolutely nothing like what you heard in STST or WtF.
When DBN woman said it was like screaming from the depths of hell, she meant it.
“God Save Us!,
God Save Us All!,
God Hates Us!,
“God Hates Us All!”
Let that serve as a sneek peek. ;)
Comment by Kumorii July 25, 2010 @ 10:45 pmDBN – I know you’ve done so much already, reviewing the album and I am very grateful as we all are…but could you describe like the song structure of “Fiction” and how much the Rev sings in it?
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer July 17, 2010 @ 2:42 pmI’d rather wait for you guys to hear it.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 2:49 pmhaha ok I knew you would say that because it might give too much away but thanks anyway can’t wait to hear that one…its the song thats near and dear to my heart
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer July 17, 2010 @ 3:40 pmDamn, that was an awesome review…I cannot wait until the 27th!! oh, by the way you are one lucky lady!
Comment by stephie July 17, 2010 @ 2:44 pmYou are SOOO lucky! I would die too meet Zacky!
Comment by XxErin♥A7XxX July 17, 2010 @ 2:46 pmI can’t wait! Now that I read the review, I’m going to be in hell for the next 10 days!
Glad you got a sneak peak before the rest of us. You deserved it for all the kick ass updates you give us. I hope it was every bit exciting as I can imagine. I can’t wait for the album now. Reading your review makes me want to hear it even more. Glad they treated you good or they’d have some pissed off fans. Thanks DBN!
Comment by Nikki July 17, 2010 @ 2:52 pmDBN, I know its not about awards or anything, BUT, do you think this album has the potential to win album of the year at the Grammys?
Comment by Sam July 17, 2010 @ 2:58 pmAlbum of the Year is slightly iffy only because I dont think the Grammys are very partial on Rock/Metal acts however, I think it has the potential to win any of the group Rock/Metal categories.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 3:04 pmThe Grammys do have a Rock Category, and a hard Rock/Metal category. I think A7X would take the Hard Rock/Metal category if they were to be nominated. As a matter of fact, I believe Shadows said himself that they would love to win a Grammy (I think he said this back in 2008 in a Kerrang article). But it takes a lot to win a Grammy. You have to have a certain amount of albums sold, and it must recieve high reviews, both of which I think Nightmare will easlity accomplish. After watching the Grammys for 16 years, seeing A7X win a Grammy would make my day!
Comment by Alyssa July 17, 2010 @ 6:06 pmI know, which is why I said I think it has the potential to win any Rock/Metal categories if it were to be submitted and then nominated.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 6:27 pmIt could be Best Rock Album, Best Hard Rock Performance (Nightmare), Best Rock Song (Nightmare or any other else) and well, Best Metal Performance for something, maybe? o.o
Comment by Danniel July 17, 2010 @ 7:01 pmBut I don’t think it takes THAT much to win since the Black Eyed Peas won 3 Grammys for that shitty album with ”good beats” and awful lyrics.
They have it all to win I guess.
If they really cared about the Grammys, I think they could’ve won at least one already, with City of Evil or the self-titled.
Comment by Danniel July 17, 2010 @ 3:52 pmMaybe they are the kind of band that thinks that the Grammys suck.
Nothing sucks about winning a Grammy, Hah. City of Evil would have been my top nomination. Never said they care about winning a Grammy though, I just think it would be a possibility they could bring one home with this album.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 3:57 pmNo, I know that the Grammys don’t suck. If I was a musician of course I would love to win one. What I meant is that the Grammys are widely criticized by people and artists themselves (I couldn’t tell one right now, though) and maybe A7X didn’t care that much about winning Grammys, since they have never recieved a single nomination, which makes me think that they haven’t sent their music to the Grammys so they could be nominated.
Comment by Danniel July 17, 2010 @ 5:00 pmThat’s what I meant :)
Hey hon, I just wanted to say that I’m so glad they gave you this opportunity. Out of everyone, you deserve it the most. You give us news, you give them news. You’re really a wonder and one of my favorite people ever.
With that said, I was just curious… how ballin’ is Zack’s house?
Comment by Victoria July 17, 2010 @ 2:59 pmDid you get to listen to “Lost It All” DBN? And if so could you add the review for that song to the others?
Comment by E July 17, 2010 @ 3:00 pmNo I did not.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 3:05 pmOf course this is going to be there best album… it’s going to be the best album ever made no doubt. metallica has some amazing songs… maybe 10 that are really really good. But avenged sevenfold have 5 albums and every song is so detailed and breathtaking. they have numorous masterpieces!! A7x we can all say that you are the best ever…. 4REVER
Comment by Thej-russ July 17, 2010 @ 3:15 pmDBN- do u know if the band will put out 30 second previews of each song before the release?
Comment by Toki July 17, 2010 @ 3:20 pmThat I do not know.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 3:25 pmHoly shit im excited
Comment by zachary July 17, 2010 @ 3:36 pmreally exited and really jealous LOL… so i walked into bookmans today to purchase my ticket for uproar festival in arizona and noticed on the cd racks that somebody had traded in their A7X CD’s… i almost bought them a second time, but decided against it cus i was there for the tickets…
Comment by Morgan July 17, 2010 @ 4:02 pmThanks DBN
Comment by 'Redman July 17, 2010 @ 4:13 pmI just now realized that WTF is for waking the fallen. I thought they ment what the fuck!
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 4:19 pmI am so jealous of you right now Ms DBN! Thanks for the review, looking forward to the album now more than ever, especially God Hates Us!!
Does anyone know how successful cryogenic freezing is? I might just be willing to give it a shot :)
Comment by James July 17, 2010 @ 4:23 pmhow exactly is this album going to change the world? is it going to stop the war in iraq? is it going to clean up the gulf oil spill? what are you getting at?
Comment by jacob July 17, 2010 @ 5:09 pmwell its music, so it would probably change it from a music perspective. it’s unlike anything you’ve heard from them before.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 5:17 pmI think Brian Haner Sr’s new Spongebob Oilspill song is what’s going to clean the oil
Comment by Josh K July 17, 2010 @ 5:30 pmIt’s already been stopped.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 5:40 pmThat’s true. Anyway, sorry to get off subject from the album. I heard that Fiction has no guitar in it. Does it have absolutely no guitar or just some like A Little Piece of Heaven?
Comment by Josh K July 17, 2010 @ 7:42 pmGuess you’ll have to see when it comes out ;)
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 8:21 pm….. -_-
Comment by Mike Gee July 18, 2010 @ 9:43 amBut it sucks, because I think Spongebob died already with all of that oil in the ocean. The oil probably rotted his Pineapple.
Comment by Alyssa July 17, 2010 @ 6:09 pmYes, I have a strange imagination. :)
(read to the tune of the spongebob theme song)
Who died of an oil spilled caused by BP?
SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS!
Comment by Mullet July 17, 2010 @ 6:45 pmYou sound angry, lol
Comment by Danniel July 17, 2010 @ 5:57 pmThe rev, before he died, told M shadows that this music was “going to change the world”. I’m guessing she was playing off of that, thought it was pretty cool and touching myself.
Comment by David Castleman July 17, 2010 @ 8:16 pmmusically
Comment by zach July 18, 2010 @ 2:56 amthere are a good number of bands who have changed the world… the beatles for example. plus the oil spill is fixed get over it already
Does anyone know if the bonus track u get with the itunes deluxe version comes with the book of nightmares?
Comment by Jon July 17, 2010 @ 5:56 pmHow was meeting shadows in real life?
Comment by Swen Duerigen July 17, 2010 @ 6:27 pmdont mean to pile on the questions, but which songs do you think had the best solos? just as a guitarist im curious
Comment by Logan July 17, 2010 @ 6:33 pmI really only got to listen to some of it once, I dont know off-hand enough to pick.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 6:36 pmSeriously more than anything else so far this review has majorly spiked my interest in this album. Hearing about everything in it a few months ago made me want the album. Listening to “Nightmare” for the first time made me impatient for the album to come out. But reading this review legitimately made me want to find one of the trucks with the CD in it, steal a copy, and hand the driver like 13 bucks haha.
I really appreciate everything you’ve done in keeping us posted on all the news with these guys. You definitely deserved to go listen to the album for a review and I’m really fuckin jealous that you got to meet Matt and Zacky. You’re living proof that hard work pays off haha. Congratulations and thank you.
Comment by Mullet July 17, 2010 @ 6:43 pmThe best part about this comment is that your name is Mullet. Win.
Can’t wait for the album!
Comment by Luke July 19, 2010 @ 12:00 amCongrats on having the chance to meet the band! You deserved it! :) They seem like the nicest people in the world too ^_^
I thought that I was waiting for the album before I read your review… Now I’m highly ANTICIPATING it. I’m actually curious now to listen to God Hates Us. I’ll know for a fact to that I’ll be crying when I hear Fiction, too… :(
Comment by Gabby July 17, 2010 @ 7:12 pmI cant believe its here already! just 10 days? fuck my ass!
Comment by Agustin July 17, 2010 @ 7:46 pmGreat review!!! I can’t fucking wait to hear God Hate Us, I love agressive songs, so I guess I’ll love it. And I’m very anxious to discover that “new screaming”.
I’ve got a few answers for you DBN woman (I really like the fact that DBN’s master is a woman, because I didn’t know and it was surprising ^^).
Are “Victim” and “Tonight the World Dies” ballads like “Seize The Day” or “Dear God”, or much like “Buried Alive” (it’s awesome!), with a ballad-squeue half and a stronger half?
Another question, is that scaring “intro” (sometimes called “Unwind the chainsaw”) A7X used to play last year included in a song?
Thank You very much!
Comment by Seba July 17, 2010 @ 7:52 pmI really want to know whats up with unwind the chainsaw too bro.. I really want it to be in the album and DBN Woman has the answer! please tell mee
Comment by Sevenfoldable July 17, 2010 @ 8:13 pmUnwind the Chainsaw never existed. It was made up. At least i’m pretty sure that’s what Ms. DBN said.
Comment by Garrick July 17, 2010 @ 9:11 pmWhatever this is called:
I want to know if it’s included in any song of this album. Ithink is dark enough :)
Comment by Seba July 18, 2010 @ 6:16 pmPlease DBN woman, tell us!!!
A lot of people have asked about that, I wasnt listening specifically for it so I cant really say.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 6:23 pmOk, thank you.
Comment by Seba July 18, 2010 @ 6:32 pmSo… We have to wait :P
I dont think it was included, I cant remember hearing it, but like I said Im not really sure.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 6:34 pmDBN, sort of a random question, but do Syn and Zacky have any “noticable” vocals on the album (besides backing vocals)?
Comment by Alyssa July 17, 2010 @ 7:57 pmI’ve always had a feeling DBN was run by a woman and i’m glad I was right.
Comment by V. Havoc July 17, 2010 @ 8:08 pmIs it possible to make this a little teaser on the front page and then have to click to read the full review? Because the full box is on the front page and it takes forever to scroll down to the latest news.
Comment by mesa July 17, 2010 @ 8:23 pmDespite the fact that it was, indeed, nice to read some details about the album, this review was truly wretched. This comment probably won’t even get posted, but I’m going to send it in anyway, and hell, if it doesn’t get put up, an entirely different and more satisfying truth is told. The word grammar obviously does not exist in your vocabulary, but I think you full well understand repetition, as you used the exact same descriptions multiple times to address several different songs… Maybe if you had just proof read it once? Just once? Then it wouldn’t have come across as so humiliatingly unintelligible… No offense of course.
Comment by Anonymous July 17, 2010 @ 8:50 pmI’ve never reviewed an album before. Half of the review was typed up in a car and the other half was typed up at 12am PST. It’s not perfect by any means and yes some descriptions were used more then once because there’s only so many ways you can explain a break-down or harmonies. It was proof read, I guess grammar doesn’t exist in their vocabulary either. Im sure some things could have been worded a little differently, but I more-so wanted to get the review up as soon as possible for everyone to read while it was still fresh in my mind. Have you ever reviewed an album after only hearing it once? Twice? Hearing half of it on one place, a few other songs in another place, and then ending with the last set of songs in another? I guess the 300+ people who read it and obviously understood it are all unintelligible as well. Along with the fine people at WBR and their manager who loved it. But hey, I respect what you’ve got to say. Im sorry that this review wasnt up to your standards, let me know when you find a review that is for this album and I would love to put it up with full credit to you, if you’ve got a name.
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 9:01 pmI’m sorry if I came across as harsh, I was just critiquing… I myself review albums, so whenever I read something I’m proofing it for a post. I appreciate the effort, as the review was extensive. It served its purpose beautifully, and that was to give people a look into the album. It seems as though your reputation is a bit misleading, and I appreciate your response. You are one hell of a lucky girl. As for my lack of a name, I’ve only posted here three times, including this one, and forget that I need to type it each time.
Comment by Lostone55 July 17, 2010 @ 9:07 pmHey, I don’t mind at all. Like I said before, I’ve never reviewed an album before and the only two times I had the chance to really type it up I had to do it quickly as I was working around my own busy schedule to get it done and up. I was leaning more towards the “review” having more of an emotional overtone then a technical one and to do it without giving too much of each song away. I listened to bits of the album in three different places so some things may have gotten lost in translation. I am a lucky girl, and I appreciate absolutely everything that I got the chance to do because I was so stoked to do it for you guys. Hopefully you’ll stick around so you can use your name more often!
Comment by deathbatnews July 17, 2010 @ 9:12 pmI like how you insult this girl for her grammatical errors, and yet have a few in your posts as well. Dipshit.
Comment by Chase July 17, 2010 @ 9:52 pmtrue that, praise jebus
Comment by jordan July 17, 2010 @ 9:11 pmHail jebus. :)
Comment by Garrick July 18, 2010 @ 1:40 pmAmen.
Comment by james July 18, 2010 @ 8:48 pmi reckon the bonus track has been flying under the radar too much..ive got a feeling that the boys are hiding something epic from us …(not saying that the album itself isnt, because that is the definition of epic!)…if you can recall to when zv said that the album was about 81 minutes long, and it only turned out to be 66-67 minutes, then you might side with me to believing that “Lost it All” is a 15 minute epic :P …just a hunch
Comment by Kyle July 17, 2010 @ 9:05 pmOn Amazon Japan the runtime with “Lost it All” is 71 minutes. So this means that “Lost it All” is only about 5 minutes long.
Comment by Colton July 17, 2010 @ 11:58 pmYeah and they did say in the Metal Hammer interview that producer Mike Elizondo actually wanted to make Save Me longer! So who knows!
Comment by eclecticmuso July 18, 2010 @ 12:00 amWell the song length as confirmed by wikipedia’s article on Nightmare states Lost it All to be 10:12 mins long so you weren’t to far off the money! Which makes it the longest A7X album yet so it clocks in at an epic 76:49 minutes! A7X foREVer!
Comment by eclecticmuso July 24, 2010 @ 5:45 amWikipedia isn’t confirmation because anyone can edit that. However, I have been told that an Amazon site had put up the length of it so it’s more then likely correct.
Comment by deathbatnews July 24, 2010 @ 8:43 amdbn, one quick question: do any of the tracks flow into each other, kind of like how seize the days goes into sidewinder? or like a lot of stuff on american idiot?
Comment by jordan July 17, 2010 @ 9:13 pmComparing Avenged Sevenfold to Green Day, blasphemy!! :P
Comment by James July 18, 2010 @ 5:41 amHey! A7X are better than Green Day of course, but Green Day are awesome live! I’ve yet to see A7X live, perhaps they’ll trump Green Day.
Ahhh they will, they will.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 8:51 amEh, I feel Green Day can write better albums than Avenged Sevenfold. A lot of Avenged Sevenfold albums strike me as just the band’s favorites rather than the best material. A number of the Diamond in the Rough songs should have been on the self-titled (even without removing any songs from the tracklist).
Comment by Carlos S July 18, 2010 @ 10:15 amI totally agree. Demons, Girl I Know, The Fight, Tension and Dancing Dead are fantastic songs! I love Demons. It would be good if they squeezed some of these on the s/t album.
Writing wise with a7x and Green Day, I think may be equal. A7x write beautiful songs, especially on WtF. Green Day write lyrically very lifelike sings, if you get me.
A7X wins every time, of course. I love ya, guys! ;)
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 2:44 pmGreen Day are a different style altogether. You can’t compare them with A7X.
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 5:04 pmthis is like comparing a corn cob to chocolate.
Comment by matt July 19, 2010 @ 12:40 amI was only saying they were my 2nd favourite band and they’re great live, and Carlos compared their writing styles, not their music. You can compare Britney Spears and Megadeth writing styles and it wouldn’t be wrong, as long as you don’t compare the music.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 19, 2010 @ 3:18 amHe didn’t compare the two bands, lol
Comment by Danniel July 18, 2010 @ 7:05 pmHe just asked if the tracks on Nightmare flow into each other
I wasn’t responding to jordan, I was responding to Carlos S
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 8:38 pmAnd I was responding to James
Comment by Danniel July 19, 2010 @ 1:45 amAh, good point, and I could continue it by saying “or like LostProphets Start Something” :)
Kinda off topic here, but I wish LostProphets would produce more music like on Start Something, love that album!
Comment by James July 19, 2010 @ 6:35 amlol i had a feeling people would start getting into that, personal i love the two bands, and i think that you really cant compare them, theyre completely different in almost every way
Comment by Anonymous July 18, 2010 @ 7:34 pmDon’t wanna compare the two but i’ve seen both live and I will say Green Days live show was better. But I watch something like “Live in the LBC” and A7X is more awesome live. Avenged leaves you wanting more live and I wish they played longer like for the dvd. Green Day plays it all live no matter how long it takes. I seen A7X again in August and im sure ill be blown away once again :)
Comment by Terrance Phifer July 18, 2010 @ 10:45 pmI expected this review to be over complimentary and kind of sucking up to the band, but instead it was an honest and interesting take on someone who was experiencing the songs exactly the same way we all will in a week.
Comment by pwall July 17, 2010 @ 10:24 pmAgreed. Well done DBN.
Comment by Anonymous July 18, 2010 @ 1:05 pmwow….Great article bro…..I’m stoked to the fullest for july 27th to come!!! Ur right man….Let this album change the world!!! A7X 4 LIFE!!!
Comment by Matteo July 17, 2010 @ 10:54 pmHey DBN I have a question. Well will Avenged use their crazy instruments on Nightmare like the organ,Violen, bongo drums like on Brompton Cocktail. I know song Nightmare as an opening with a crazy instrument but will the whole album be like that something of the Self Titled. Just askin :)
Comment by DK deathbat July 17, 2010 @ 11:57 pmI saw an interview, or heard it (I forget) with M. Shadows… and talk was about what they would do with the Rev’s vocals live, his recordings, or someone else singing them… anyway it turned to talk about the song “Fiction” and he said the song was more or less just him and Rev singing and a lot of eery strings, and really not alot of guitar or traditional Bass, Drums, like you see in a rock song… so he wasn’t sure how they would pull that off live… I actually think it would be cool if they did like a 2 song encore, and the first one is just Shads coming out and singing this along with the recorded instruments and Rev’s vocals… kinda like Dave Matthews does in alot of his concert encores… not that they will get a shot at an encore at Uproar… but maybe in Europe where they are headlining.
Comment by Brian July 18, 2010 @ 10:09 pmDBN thankyou lots for putting this up I can’t wait for this to come out!!! I can’t remember if it was hammers interview on the radio or not tht said danger line is gonna be a huge hit?? Idk I’m forgetful but just wanted to say thankyou for everything!
Comment by big willie July 18, 2010 @ 1:23 amI think you were hearing MetalHammers podcast review… it is like a 7 minute review where they say Danger Line will be a career highlight, Welcome to the family sounds like Metallica being played by old school AFI, the first half got the pace of CoE, the lyrics are heart breaking and almost make you uncomfortable listening, like Daddy by Korn? is that the review?
Comment by Brian July 18, 2010 @ 10:14 pmI can’t wait to hear the album!
Comment by andrine July 18, 2010 @ 2:07 amDBN, you’re so lucky to meet the guys for yourself and then even listen to their new Album :).
Your review is great. I’m anticipating the new Record even more now. But i’m maybe most thrilled to hear God Hates Us, because your description, that it’ll be rougher than Waking The Fallen ? oh man ! Waking The Fallen song and Album with Sounding The Seventh Trumpeth, are my two most favorite Albums, because i loved and i stil love Mat Screams there, so really looking forward for the God Hates Us :O.
And by the way, which are your most favorite Albums ? :P
Comment by Syny July 18, 2010 @ 2:24 amIm excited about the album but Christ it was hard to get through that review…written poorly and you tried to make it as epic as the album itself
Comment by MikeSevenfold July 18, 2010 @ 5:05 amnow,I really could’nt be mad if avenged sevenfold stop after 2010 after reading that review because it sounds like the album has everything they have ever done. metalcore-god hates us. pop-welcome to the family. everything-save me. and there is fiction and the other songs
Comment by Anonymous July 18, 2010 @ 6:37 amI expect a FLURRY of comments on this site when the album comes out.
Comment by Phil A7X July 18, 2010 @ 6:38 amat least 500.
the record i read was like 800+ on another post in the past. so im pretty sure over 1000 :D
that would be a pain in the ass to read what everybody thinks about the album haha
Comment by Neil July 18, 2010 @ 7:44 amThere were 800+ when I posted the news about the hidden puzzle piece on here. Im at least hoping that DBN gets more then that when I post the discussion entry on the 27th :)
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 7:53 amhahahahahah. wow. I’m really off. Ok, then maybe about 1300.
Comment by Phil A7X July 18, 2010 @ 8:05 ami agree im saying well over 1000 and i already told dbn that:)
Comment by BC July 18, 2010 @ 9:00 amI would suggest trying to set up page numbers for that day. lol If you are able to. To make it easier to sift through comments and such. Otherwise, can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to the album that day. :D
Comment by Paige July 18, 2010 @ 12:36 pmUnfortunately I can’t make comment pages however the comments will cut off after a thread that becomes 10 deep so if you’re talking with someone you’ll have to start a brand new comment thread. I dont know if that makes sense, Hah.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 12:40 pmI recommend having a different post for each song, so people can discuss each song separately on those posts. Otherwise it would be just too crazy to read everything, seeing as DBN has grown immensely.
Remember the days when there were about six comments on most posts? :)
Comment by Cassie July 18, 2010 @ 1:40 pmThat’s actually a good idea, though it would take up the entire first page of the website since there are 12 songs (if you count the bonus song) so we’ll see! And yes I do, it’s pretty crazy!
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 1:45 pmAh, true. It would take up a bunch of space. All is well, though. I always read through all the comments anyways, so it doesn’t matter where they are. :)
Comment by Cassie July 18, 2010 @ 1:50 pmIt sounds to me like this album deserves to take up the entire first page of the website haha
Comment by Mullet July 18, 2010 @ 2:00 pmOh it surely does. Im going to work something out.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 2:04 pmNever forget Narnia!
Comment by Luke July 19, 2010 @ 12:09 amlol
Comment by mcra7xbfmv July 19, 2010 @ 1:26 pmHow could we ever forget the Narnia days!? Live on, Narnia! Live on! XD
Comment by Cassie July 19, 2010 @ 5:50 pmDBN, if you had to choose, which song would you say was your favorite? I know you said you loved them all, but was there 1 song that you liked more than the others?
Comment by Bob July 18, 2010 @ 6:56 amA+ for this review. Cant wait..
Comment by ChrisA7X July 18, 2010 @ 6:59 amYou said you never reviewed an album before … well you could have fooled me lol, you said we’d get goosebumps by hearing the album … I’m pretty sure its safe to say like 90% of the people that read this got them solely from just reading your review … AMAZING work and CAN NOT wait to hear it!!
Comment by Matt July 18, 2010 @ 7:38 amI’m glad to hear it put positively. Buried Alive kind of… Well, honestly it broke my heart because I didn’t like it at all. But I still love Avenged Sevenfold as if they were my family.
Comment by Anonymous July 18, 2010 @ 8:26 amFiction sounds like it’s the worst song… but the best at the same time. Can’t wait till I get to hear it myself.
hey DBN – you should post a picture of yourself and maybe a little bit about yourself so we can see what the awesome person that runs this site is like :P
amazing review btw thanks :)
Comment by wikaman1 July 18, 2010 @ 9:25 amI don’t want her to do that. I like not knowing who DBN is. It keeps it more interesting. I like secrets much better..
Comment by Nikki July 18, 2010 @ 11:12 amlike gossip girl lol
Comment by matt July 19, 2010 @ 12:38 amDBN,
The guys at the metal hammer podcast said “Danger Line” was a career highlight. Would you agree with this? Cause I’m really looking forward to hearing that song.
Comment by Tanner July 18, 2010 @ 9:30 amI think it’s one of their better songs, but then again I think this album is the best work they’ve all done. Emotionally it’s a hard-hitting song.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 9:32 amSorry to pile on the questions, but gill and beez also mentioned a piano breakdown in that song. Was that good?
Comment by Tanner July 18, 2010 @ 11:24 amHeyyyy my name is Tanner too! But yeah I posted that on YouTube but it got taken down not to long ago. :( stupid copyrights. Yeah I wonder how close their views are to my views. Ehhhh we will have to wait.
Comment by Taaaaannnnnnnneeeeeerrrrrrr July 20, 2010 @ 12:39 amHey DBN, i was just wondering, are there are any drum-solo type things on this album like in beast and the harlot or blinded in chains?
Comment by Justin July 18, 2010 @ 10:22 amcan you hear a pinkly smooth, little piece of heaven type vibe any where in this album ?
Comment by (; July 18, 2010 @ 12:26 pmI can’t give everything away to you guys! Hah.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 12:32 pmWell I heard Fiction was originally written for Pinkly Smooth but Jimmy never finished it. So I think that will have the Pinkly Smooth vibe.
Comment by Chase July 18, 2010 @ 8:13 pmWhere did you hear that? everything I heard from interviews was that 3 days before Jimmy passed he brought Fiction (then called “Death”) to Shadows and said that is it, he is done… Shadows said at the time he didn’t think anything of it, but then 3 days later Rev dies, and the lyrics he laid down on the song are almost like a good bye.
Comment by Brian July 18, 2010 @ 10:24 pmNo, Fiction was not written for Pinkly Smooth
Comment by RuiA7X July 19, 2010 @ 4:26 amyea it was written for pinkly syn metioned it in an radio interview a while back but never finished when avenged took off and went back to it 3 days before he died
Comment by Lewis July 19, 2010 @ 7:59 amNo it wasn’t. Zacky said it was written by the rev for a7x. Brian was exactly on point. This wasn’t written for pinkly smooth.
Comment by Tanner July 19, 2010 @ 8:07 amNo it was written for Pinkly Smooth look at the 99.7 Blitz interview with Shads and Syn and listen carefully when they talk about Fiction. Syn clearly mention PS and how they had crazy piano ideas for Fiction but never got to it.
Comment by a7xfreakdrummer July 19, 2010 @ 10:43 amNo, no I mean he started it back when Pinkly was still going on and He started it but couldn’t finish it. He finished it during the writing process so and Syn did say that in an interview. So it was for Avenged but got it’s start in Pinkly Smooth.
Comment by Chase July 19, 2010 @ 12:01 pmLots of grammar errors lol. I meant he finished it during the writing process for Nightmare.
Comment by Chase July 19, 2010 @ 12:02 pmYes because it wasn’t right for Pinkly, but Avenged didn’t exist when Jimmy started writing it.
Comment by Marlz July 20, 2010 @ 5:26 amOkay, but the whole thing I was trying to get at was it will probably have a Pinkly Smooth kind of vibe.
Comment by Chase July 20, 2010 @ 11:32 amI just had to reply to this post. She is beautiful (you would be so lucky to know her) she works full time then devotes every other minute to this site and never expects anything in return. I have read all of these comments and want to Thank everyone else for their support. DBN’S MOTHER
Comment by DBN's Mother July 18, 2010 @ 1:03 pmAw mom!
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 1:05 pmTouching, truly touching stuff.
Comment by Phil A7X July 18, 2010 @ 1:46 pmThanks for sharing Mama DBN
This is the most adorably awesome thing I’ve ever seen. DBN’s mum (if it is you :P) you have an awesome daughter. So awesome, the mighty A7X themselves recognise her and her almighty dedication to the best band and coolest group of people in the world :)
My web browsing would be shit without DBN :( THANK YOU!!! xD
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 18, 2010 @ 2:52 pmThat is definitely her, Hah. She’s so cute.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 2:55 pmWe appreciate everything our DBN gives us. DBN’s Mother has an amazing daughter.
Comment by Ghostflame83 July 19, 2010 @ 8:45 amThis is just too cute. :)
Comment by Cassie July 18, 2010 @ 1:42 pmlol i didnt know ur mom read this:) thanks DBN’s mother!!!!
Comment by BC July 18, 2010 @ 1:04 pmHey dbn is matts screaming voice on God Hates Us kinda sound like phil anselmo from pantera for sum reason ive just imagined it sounding like that on the song ever since they said tha song had screaming
Comment by vince July 18, 2010 @ 1:35 pmI don’t want to compare it to anyone really, but it sounds like growling from the pits of hell. It’s insane.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 1:36 pmOkay that scares me..lol I’m not a fan of ‘growling from the pits of hell…” Guess I’ll just have to wait to hear it.
Even if I don’t like it…I’ll still have ten [11 if you include the non-album track on the itunes one] to look forward to.
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 5:01 pmI am a little nervous to listen to God Hates Us. I love Waking The Fallen, but something heavier than that? I am not a huge fan of extreme screamo, or screaming, but I think I will end up loving the song anyways!
Comment by Alyssa July 18, 2010 @ 5:47 pmlol the thing I love about Avenged Sevenfold is it bring all types of fans of music together. Personally, I love really heavy music like Whitechapel and stuff, but at the same time I love A7X. But they also have fans that are into lighter rock and metal. Its just cool that one band can attract so many different types of fans
Comment by Sam July 18, 2010 @ 7:22 pmI think screamo screaming is annoying…because it’s kinda highpitched…I don’t think Shads would be screaming high pitched though…growling is deeper…so we’ll see…lol
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 8:36 pmMore Sounding the Seventh Trumpet or Waking the Fallen, would you compare it too… i hope the latter.
Comment by Brian July 18, 2010 @ 10:26 pmThanks Dbn girl for taking time to answer my question and giving a review We really appreciate wat u do for the fans and the time u put into this website cant fuckin wait to hear the album
Comment by vince July 18, 2010 @ 1:41 pmAnd I appreciate all of you.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 1:43 pmI keep reading and rereading this post and all the comments just to see if the review magically channels the songs into my brain. I want to hear this album so badly!!
Comment by Justin July 18, 2010 @ 1:58 pmI wonder how many songs were recorded this time. We already know of one bonus track. Last time they recorded 8 extra songs that didnt make it onto the album.
Comment by Agustin July 18, 2010 @ 2:27 pmONE MORE QUESTION DBN. haha Does the screaming on God Hates Us sound different than the screaming on Buried Alive?
Comment by Sam July 18, 2010 @ 2:38 pmOh yes.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 2:41 pm:)
Comment by Sam July 18, 2010 @ 2:53 pmcant wait for it
Comment by gary July 18, 2010 @ 3:06 pmhey dbn, we’re still meeting in alabama at that show!
i’ma propose to you.
Comment by synystersam July 18, 2010 @ 3:44 pm;D
Hey DBN lady, I’m a little worried about the pop stuff in Welcome to the family, will the hardcore fans love it?
Comment by Marco July 18, 2010 @ 4:19 pm“Afterlife” is a pop influenced song, did you like it?
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 4:21 pmOf course, i like all the songs of them (except some of STST). So it’s a song like the S/T ones right?
Comment by Marco July 18, 2010 @ 4:53 pm? your a hardcore fan and you dont like some of STST?
Comment by zach July 18, 2010 @ 9:16 pmI’m not a “hardcore” fan i’m just little worried about the hardcore fans in general hah. I do love everysong since. I was just worried about them being to pop.
Comment by Marco July 18, 2010 @ 11:06 pm*since WTF
Comment by Marco July 18, 2010 @ 11:07 pmIm a “Hardcore Fan” and i think most of sounding the seventh trumpet is trash (fav song To End The Rapture Hvy Mtl Version, which wasn’t even on it till Syn joined the band afterwards). It wasnt even A7x as we know it now, it was just Shadows Vengaence and The Rev. Hell even the band says the get a chuckle out of listening to their really old stuff. So not liking some of STST in no way makes you less of a fan.
Comment by PeteA7X July 19, 2010 @ 10:44 amLost was very ‘poppy’ in the words of JC…lol
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 4:59 pmAh! i’ve been waiting for a really good review for “Nightmare”, and who knew that DBN would be the reviewer?! Thank you SO much on behalf of the fans for giving us such an intense, and brilliant review of “Nightmare”. You just made the anticipation alot more worth what it already was.
Comment by Arron Johnson July 18, 2010 @ 4:25 pmOf course, i like all the songs of them (except some of STST). So it’s a song like the S/T ones right?
Comment by Marco July 18, 2010 @ 4:28 pmOkay I have a quick question, Aside from what we get on Buried Alive and God Hates us, is there any other screaming on the record? Even if it is small amounts.
And I saw you said that God Hates Us’ screaming sounds like something from the pits of hell… Youre killing me with anticipation hahah.
Comment by lollololol July 18, 2010 @ 4:56 pmu made it soudn amazing bro, countin down the days as we speak!………..a7x…..i cant even describe in words how great they are, and keepin on with studio work and touring with the rev passing on……..remarkable.
Comment by andrew colmus-barajas July 18, 2010 @ 4:57 pmDBN is a girl bro.

Pingback by Top Posts — WordPress.com July 18, 2010 @ 5:05 pmAwesome review. Amplified my anticipation for this album by 100 times :) thank you.
Comment by Mike July 18, 2010 @ 7:33 pmdbn, you’re an intelligent person. i was wondering what you think it means in buried alive when matt says “meanwhile the mice endure the wheel” ? (:
Comment by (; July 18, 2010 @ 8:30 pmYou know when Zacky and I were talking he actually spoke about that specific line. He basically said it’s just a metaphor for the band going through everything at the time.
Comment by deathbatnews July 18, 2010 @ 8:35 pmthank you. lucky. :p
Comment by (; July 18, 2010 @ 8:37 pmThat makes total sense.
@ (; On a broader sense of the term it’s a metaphor for life.
Comment by Marlz July 18, 2010 @ 8:44 pmGood review, you take that rocksound girls job easy lol. But really you described it the best way you knew how, the person saying it was bad is stupid. You didn’t get the cd, you just got to listen and to even tell us and review the album at all is great, and you said you had to stop and write at different times, to remember the songs and tidbits of the album is appreciated. Thank you DBN, best A7X, fansite by far.

Comment by Kyle July 19, 2010 @ 1:20 amI’ve seen people complaining that some of the song on the album are too short, but with only 2 songs under 5 minutes, thats pretty good. I’m really excited for “Lost it All”.
Comment by Colton July 19, 2010 @ 2:14 pmI’m a guy and I was literally fighting tears as I read the review for Fiction. Perhaps I should pick up some tissue when I pick up my album…
Also, great review. If this album is anything like you make it sound, this will be my favorite album… like, ever! This 8 day wait is killing me.
Comment by OmegaRS July 19, 2010 @ 10:55 amhey DBN girl i noticed the you dont answer all the questions about the album and i completely understand that.
Comment by Ron July 19, 2010 @ 11:30 ami would really appreciate if you will answer my question and if you cant answer that question just don’t reveal a lot of information in your answer.
i would like to know if there was a certain part in the album that really got your attention?you don’t have to tell me what you hear in that part but it will be great if you will reply thanks :)
As much as I would love to tell you my favorite parts I got to hear the songs at different times in different places. In order for me to really pick out a stand-out part I’d have to sit down with it for a while and listen to it a few times.
Comment by deathbatnews July 19, 2010 @ 5:11 pmI have a question dbn..
will you marry me?
bahah
Comment by synystersam July 19, 2010 @ 11:35 amI don’t like your review of the songs Nightmare or Buried Alive. So I don’t know if I should trust your opinions on the all the other songs. But this album is going their best, and maybe the best album in the world. Well see.
Comment by xx THE R3V xx July 19, 2010 @ 12:47 pmWhy? You said you don’t like the review, but isn’t kind of stupid to say that and not give any reasons as to why you don’t like it?
Comment by Alyssa July 19, 2010 @ 1:17 pmyou didnt know the rev so stop saying you are going to cry its okay to be sad but you didnt know him for 18 fucking years like the band grow some balls be sad dont cry you only knew his music
Comment by fuckyouall July 19, 2010 @ 12:48 pmDude, it shows how amazing the rev really was…if some of his fans feel like they want to cry..then so be it, it just shows how the rev affected people who didnt even know him. a part of a7x died when the rev did, so i dont blame people wanting to cry. u need to grow some balls, it takes a real man to admit his emotions.
Comment by John F July 19, 2010 @ 1:00 pmWoah, where are you coming from? Are you talking about DBN or just everybody on here in general? If people want to cry, let them. There is no need to preach to those that are going to bawl their eyes out when they listen to the album. I might shed a couple of tears, is there anything really wrong with that?
Comment by Alyssa July 19, 2010 @ 1:20 pmNice name.
Comment by Tanner July 19, 2010 @ 1:25 pmyeah dude fuck you even though we never met him people feel they knew him through his music and the clips and stuff they saw of him im not going to cry durin the album but i will feel sad like avery a7x fan will
Comment by A7Xforlife July 19, 2010 @ 2:52 pmJust because we have emotions
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 19, 2010 @ 3:53 pmWe are sad about The Rev because we love a7x and, personally, I see them like family, if I met them I would treat them like family and I love them like family. I MISS Jimmy because he was a big part of my life. A7X still are and I will always love them because they love us back, and appreciate us.
So fuck you.
It’s probably best you edited that DBN, I don’t really want to offend anyone. Well, maybe that guy, he really got on my nerves and offended me :( But I shouldn’t let a butthead like him get me angry.
Comment by EmilyVengeance July 19, 2010 @ 4:07 pmI wanted to say that other than a dying child that’s a fan, no one deserves this more than you. What you do for free is amazing and it’s the first place I go to check on my A7X news!
Keep up the great job and I’m extremely happy for the recognition that you received for what you do. Also, the boys in the band need to be recognized for everything they do to “bond” with their fans… I’ve never met them but it’s a major reason they’re my favorite. 80s bands, when I was growing up, didn’t do this kind of stuff and it really makes a difference.
Now only if they would respond to me wanting to bring them some of my home-brew…
fat
Comment by fatboy July 19, 2010 @ 1:18 pmcant wait to hear the album im completely stoked awesome review
Comment by Logan July 19, 2010 @ 1:46 pmI’m psyched xD cant wait till the 27th
Comment by colt45 July 19, 2010 @ 2:46 pmThe way you described “Fiction” made me tear up. I can’t wait to hear this.
Comment by Mike July 19, 2010 @ 3:51 pmSo where are the pictures other than the building??
Comment by Justin July 19, 2010 @ 6:02 pmMy personal pictures arent being posted.
Comment by deathbatnews July 19, 2010 @ 6:05 pmWell that’s just silly! Why not???
Comment by Justin July 20, 2010 @ 2:52 pmBecause they’re my personal pictures, hah.
Comment by deathbatnews July 20, 2010 @ 2:57 pmThat’s a horrible excuse, i want to see them.
Comment by Justin July 20, 2010 @ 6:45 pmWell it’s not going to happen, sorry! :)
Comment by deathbatnews July 20, 2010 @ 6:53 pmWell a sorry isn’t as good as pics of your trip!
Comment by Justin July 20, 2010 @ 7:09 pmHey Justin, you can leave DBN woman the fuck alone. As far as her review goes, i can say that everything in the previews, she described on here accurately. So, you dont need personal pictures of her trip.
Comment by Alikz July 21, 2010 @ 12:30 amima b crying through the whole album :[
Comment by rossy July 19, 2010 @ 8:39 pmWhy are people certain the release in Germany is the 23rd? I have seen no official confirmation on that. It just makes no sense to me why Germany would be getting the record first. Can you comment on this DBN?
Comment by Dane H. July 19, 2010 @ 9:38 pmwell its actually being released tommorow in italy and japan which is awesome its confirmed on amazon
Comment by stevevalles July 20, 2010 @ 7:31 amI didn’t see that. You have link?
Comment by Chase July 20, 2010 @ 7:41 pmhey dbn, i have a legit question.
i read somewhere that Mick Thompson does some guest guitarwork/screaming
is this true or only a rumor?
Comment by synystersam July 19, 2010 @ 9:48 pmI doubt it. ’cause they used Synyster’s father to do any guest guitaring. and Shadows is able to do his own screaming. So i don’t see how having Mick Tompson is helpful
Comment by Phil A7X July 20, 2010 @ 9:16 amNah it was made up
Comment by FretMuppet July 21, 2010 @ 6:17 amreading that made very very excited and it also made me nearly cry as well. i cant wait for the 26th/27th.
Comment by Tiff July 20, 2010 @ 3:03 amjust a tip for any future reviews, and i dont mean this in a mean way cause im very grateful you posted this, but next time try to be a little more objective. everyone experiences a song differently so dont tell us what we’re gonna feel, just stick to the facts of the song. thank you for posting this though!
Comment by Logan July 20, 2010 @ 5:57 amI meant in general when I was speaking about how people would feel. Obviously it was only myself who heard it and it’s written based of how I felt hearing it all. I totally understand how my wording was wrong though and I apologize for that! Thank you!
Comment by deathbatnews July 20, 2010 @ 2:39 pmI know its not true but just a few minutes ago wikipedia wrote that the Nightmare relase date was changed to the 9th september xD its now deleted but i got a little scared when i wrote it!
Comment by Daniel July 20, 2010 @ 11:11 amHey guys,I have a question. Is ”Fiction” supposed to be The Rev’s masterpiece? I know about the whole 3-days-later-and-he-died thing, but I would like to know if it this song is also the one he said was his masterpiece. Thanks.
Comment by Yaeven July 22, 2010 @ 6:44 amIt seriously is a masterpiece, very deep lyrics, and beautiful piano player
Comment by Phil A7X July 23, 2010 @ 12:44 pmIt seriously is a masterpiece, very deep lyrics, and beautiful piano playing
Comment by Phil A7X July 23, 2010 @ 12:44 pmI believe I have to agree with you on every aspect. I love this album.
Comment by brady July 22, 2010 @ 5:45 pmThank you.
Comment by deathbatnews July 22, 2010 @ 5:49 pmI’m scared of listening to ‘Fiction.’ I don’t wanna cry. Which I think I will. But at the same time, I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR IT.
Comment by Alan July 22, 2010 @ 10:04 pmIt’s alright, better than I expected. I’d given up on them at one point.
Comment by Chuck July 23, 2010 @ 4:42 amSave me is the best song, I mean really it’s astonishing.
Comment by Owen.C July 23, 2010 @ 7:17 amHoly crap Save me is amazing. My favorites so far are Danger Line, Save Me, and Welcome To The Family.
Comment by Sam July 23, 2010 @ 8:01 amI just listened to the whole thing all the way through, and I am listening to it all the way through for the second time as I type this. In my opinion it is not the best Avenged Sevenfold album, but it is still amazing (obviously, Avenged Sevenfold aren’t shit, so won’t release shit). What the reviewer said about Fiction is 100% true, I cried at 3 different points.
Comment by Alex Simpson July 23, 2010 @ 8:38 amHow can you talk about Victim and not mention the amazing solos? Synyster really did an amazing job with this song. That Steve Vai/ Gustavo Guerra sounding descending lick in the solo is pretty damn sick. Another great Avenged album, it’s up to par with WTF and COE but still a very different album. So much better than the self titled. Really missin Jimmy after listening to this.
Comment by Jake July 23, 2010 @ 11:56 amI don`t know if anybody remembers, but when Rocksound did their review, they said there was cowbell. Where is the cowbell? Is the reviewer just stupid and confused it with the drum ride’s bell?
Comment by Phil A7X July 23, 2010 @ 12:52 pmI heard Fiction. I managed to hold back my tears. This album is DEFINITELY my favorite. By the way, DBN, do you know anything about ‘Lost It All’?
Comment by Alan July 23, 2010 @ 5:04 pmJust that it comes with the iTunes Deluxe Edition of “Nightmare.” You should be able to get it separately after the 27th.
Comment by deathbatnews July 23, 2010 @ 5:05 pmI wish I could say that I cied while listening to Fiction, but I honestly didn’t. Don’ get me wrog, it is a very haunting and moving song, but guess I am emotionless. I listened to it t 2 AM so I fell asleep halfway through Save Me. But I woke up to Danger Line, which I think is my favorite. I also like Victim and God Hates Us
Comment by Tyson July 24, 2010 @ 10:05 amI’ve heard God Hates Us. .
Comment by Kumorii July 24, 2010 @ 10:47 pmHis screams aren’t like his old screams, they’re A LOT better!
i have the album and i love it
