A New Avenged Sevenfold Live DVD, Touring Japan, Orion Music Festival And More With M Shadows.

In the new issue of Kerrang! Magazine you can read through a great review of Avenged Sevenfold’s Kawasaki, Japan show and the biggest news to come out of the article is the fact that Avenged Sevenfold will be releasing a new live DVD. There’s also a short questionnaire with M Shadows where talks more about the DVD, touring Japan and the Orion Music + More Festival. Cheryl from Devil Bear Rock was kind enough to send me photos of the article so I went ahead and wrote it up to share with y’all.

As such, there’s a jubilant atmosphere here tonight as A7X tear through their 12-song set – one filmed for an upcoming DVD – kicking off with Nightmare. “Thank you for having us in your beautiful country,” shouts M Shadows before later calling the baying crowd to arms, “You guys ready to make this DVD look crazy as fuck?” And so Club Citta is just one big circle pit. “Japan is representing on the DVD, I can’t wait! Let’s just film the mosh pit.” It is quite a sight.

What can you tell us about your new DVD?
M Shadows: “We’re trying to film everywhere besides the United States. We just did Europe last summer with Rafa – who did our first DVD, Live In The LBC, with – and now we want to do Asia and South America. We’re going to release something that represents everybody!”

What can you tell us about your new DVD?
– “We’re trying to film everywhere besides the United States. We just did Europe last summer with Rafa – who did our first DVD, Live In The LBC, with – and now we want to do Asia and South America. We’re going to release something that represents everybody!”

What are your favorite memories of touring in Japan?
– “First time we came here, we got to play Summer Sonic twice in a row in front of a full stadium. It was insane, we left backstage and there were kids chasing us. Oh, and we got to ride on the bullet train with Ozzy. That was awesome.”

How excited are you about playing Metallica’s U.S. Orion Festival in June?
– “It’ll be fun man! Nothing’s funnier than when Lars gives you a call – he talked about his kids, this and that and then said, “Let’s do this festival!” You don’t really tell him no! It’s good for us to get off our butts and do something!”

Avenged Sevenfold’s M Shadows has been making the most out of Japanese hospitality. “My favorite thing to do here is eat sushi,” he told K! after the band’s Kawasaki show. “The biggest difference is the rice – it melts in your mouth!” Must be the altitude.

********************

In the studio, right? Given that it’s nearly been a year since Avenged Sevenfold bid farewell to a heaving Download crowd last summer, surely they have their heads down recording new songs? Wrong. After four months of rest, they’re back on the road, starting a tour here in Kawasaki, Japan, that will eventually see them surging through Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates and and culminating in two dates supporting Metallica for their Orion Music Festival in New Jersey. Far from the seclusion of studio life, A7X are tearing things up on the other side of the world.

Tonight is sold-out, of course. Hardcore fans have been queuing since the early hours and the atmosphere is electric. Super-fan Maliko Sato is one of them, and she explains why. “This is the very first show in [Kawasaki] since The Rev passed away,” she says. “It means a lot to us that they’re here.” As such, there’s a jubilant atmosphere here tonight as A7X tear through their 12-song set – one filmed for an upcoming DVD – kicking off with Nightmare.

Perhaps it’s because they’re filming a DVD, maybe he’s just happy to be playing again, but M Shadow is on fire tonight. Throughout he constantly jokes, even getting Zacky Vengeance to say “Arigatou Gozaimasu (Thank You)” and Synyster Gates to say “Konnickiwa (Hello).” Which is a better deal than bassist Johnny Christ gets – He’s forced to wear a pair of novelty ears thrown on stage (“You’re a beautiful princess”). With this kind of spirit delivered at the same time as anthems like Almost Easy, the night isn’t just a normal A7X show, it’s a party.

That said, the celebration does subside six songs in when they play So Far Away. “We’re going to play a song for our dear friend, your dear friend – The Rev,” Shadows says, somberly. “This goes out to our brother upstairs.” Just before the song hits its mournful conclusion, Shadows continues his reflection. “He always loved coming here, I can’t help but think of all the great things we had in Japan when he was around. I want to thank you guys,” It’s a perfect tribute.

Still, the show must go on and things only get wilder. From there they take in incendiary runs through Beast And THe Harlot and A Little Piece Of Heaven and, via a quick trip to Bat County, arrive at an encore of Fiction and Unholy Confessions. Suddenly, it’s clear why they’re taking theta time to start the next chapter of their career – it’s because this one is still reaching new heights.

Woo hoo on the DVD! Glad to hear they are happy and doing well =). Can’t wait for more information on the DVD as well.

DBN> Any news on the documentary they talked about a while back on Jimmy? Just curious, as nothing as been said about it on fan sites and such and you seem to be very much in the know about these things =). No worries if there’s no news, just curious.

Comment by aightball

Haven’t heard anything new regarding the documentary. There’s been a trend of “concert films” being made recently and I think that would be interesting to see from them. It would certainly make sense if they decided to turn it into something like that. That’s just what I think though! I only know for sure what you guys know and that’s that they were filming one and Matt had no clue when it was going to coming out, haha.

Comment by deathbatnews

What was the setlist for the DVD?

Comment by Matt

There’s no telling what the set list will be at this time. They haven’t completed filming yet at this time.

Comment by deathbatnews

But well, it’s not a complete show like LBC? Is a lot of parts of a lot of shows? I don’t understand that

(But I hope that they play Not Ready to Die) :DD

Comment by R3V

A lot of live DVDs (not LBC though) are composites from several nights of a tour to make the best performance possible. I wish the set could be a little more different from LBC though. :/ *complain*

Comment by Mike

I literally cried when I read this, I’m so excited. I thought I’d never hear about another Live DVD. This news made me very happy! I can’t wait for this!! c:

Comment by michelle shadows

I almost broke my heel rushing here when I saw the title. Fantastic news! Is it delusional if I expect a surprise performance of “M.I.A.” as the encore or something…?

Comment by Loghen

Comment by Lindsey

This is GREAT news!! When I was at the SAN JOSE (make up) show…I think they were getting filmed…a man had this tall pod/stick with a camera (not just a regular camera too) holding it all up in Matts face…check out my videos on youtube user : eacalwayz the one you want to look for is “Welcome to the Family Almost Easy San Jose 12-16-11” at 2:15 you will see what I’m talking about! I wonder if that Buried Alive video that fans filmed at the Ontario Dec 17 show will be on that DVD as well??? I can’t wait.

i caint fucking wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Brooks Anders

Ok Wait! I wish they would create the DVD here in the US because they dont have all the pyrotechnics that they do in over there! A huge deathbat on fire would look much more epic on a dvd than flashing lights… Just saying but i still cant wait! Go GET Em boys!

Comment by Alec

Agreed. That’s one thing that I feel needs to be in the DVD is the big ass deathbat on fire!

Comment by Matt

awesome article! i am so excited about the new concert DVD! like CRAZY excited!!

Comment by Alicia S.

That’s so awesome!!!!!!!!!! It’s cool that they’re gonna have different songs from different shows. Maiden did that with “Flight 666” and that turned out great! It’s cool because they can pick and choose the best takes of each song. I am so happy to read this! I hope they release a Live CD along with it.

Comment by Jovan

Yesssss! Another DVD? Cannot fucking wait!!!!
So Stoked!

Comment by mikeyV

AHHHHHHHH!!! I’m so excited for a new live dvd!

Comment by francyA7X

Hopefully they add chapter four and shit like that in there and not the same set list as lbc like the voting set list issue… I’m sure avenged wants to do the same thing we want them to do. Record old songs!!!

Comment by Anonymous

YES I was waiting for a DVD announcement! This is absolutly brilliant! Thanks for the news!

Comment by Rad

So this is the live package m.shadows was talking about??

I was hoping for a live album as well.

Comment by Lewis C. Garcia

Me too! The only live song I have is seize the day from the welcome to the family single. It’d be cool if they released the DVD as an album as well.

Comment by Lindsey

Yeah I hope they do…I love live albums :)

Comment by Lewis C. Garcia

Man, I’m soooo happy there’s gonna be a new live DVD!

Comment by JaCaria

I have been waiting and wondering what was taking so long for them to release a new live DVD. The Live in the LBC DVD was very well done and is one of my fav concert DVDs ever, and has also converted many former haters of Avenged Sevenfold into dedicated fans. I feel they have only grown stronger in their live performances since then, and may Jimmy rest in peace…I would love to see “I Won’t See You Tonight” on DVD, something rare like that, it’d be incredible.

Comment by Mike Dolgon (@trendy)

im excited that there is going to be a new dvd

Comment by HAITHERE

Comment by ryan conway

Comment by Gemmaa7x
