The Huntington Beach Independent recently caught up with Jake Buschnell, vocalist of the newly revived ska/reggae band HB Surround Sound. While talking about the their start as a band he mentions the support they received from Avenged Sevenfold and opening shows for them.

It opened for the popular Huntington Beach metal band, Avenged Sevenfold, in the early 2000s. Despite playing a different genre of music, HB Surround Sound’s music was well received by the crowd.

“That’s how cool Avenged Sevenfold is,” Jake Bushnell (vocals) said in an interview on Main Street in Huntington Beach. “We sound totally different than them, but they were our friends and decided to put us on their show. We played some reggae stuff but mostly punk and metal kinds of songs. The crowd was like, ‘Alright, this is different’ and liked it. That was great.”

Since they play ska/reggae, they should play a cover of “Zacky’s Surprise Song” (especially with the “new verse”)

I’ve seen HB Surround Sound so many times in the past couple of months, and they are so awesome and down to Earth. Every show I attend Jake always sees me in the crowd (cause I’m usually front row) and points to me while he’s singing. They put on a absolutely great show live, they’re right under A7X for best show I’ve seen, and their two EPs are really cool and you people should check ’em out! Also Jake is the brother of the Dirty Heads’ Duddy B.
