Ultimate Guitar’s Top 10 Greatest Drummers Of All Time.

Ultimate Guitars asked their readers to vote for their choices as The Top 10 Greatest Drummers Of All Time. Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan made the list at #8.

8. Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan (Avenged Sevenfold)
Jimmy died in 2009 after accidentally overdosing on prescription drugs, but his legacy lives on. Raised on a diet of metal and progressive rock, the Rev made his name as a multi-talented songwriter for Avenged Sevenfold. This video shows his school music teacher talking about how the young prodigy was playing and transcribing Metallica drums by the age of 13 – and how she later learned he had been doing it all on a toy drum kit.

Thanks Dafna for sending this in.

I wasn’t going to post anything on Jimmy’s birthday this year – but today I received a packet of heartfelt letters and drawings from some of the 4612 deathbats out there. This was after finding a group of fans with birthday cakes and drumsticks and stallion ducks and knife-master knives and drawings when we went to the cemetery on Saturday. This was after being referred to so many tribute websites that it becomes too emotional to visit them all. And this was after a year of getting letters from his Italy fans and his Swedish fans and many others, and after visits from a cute couple from northern California and finding fans at art shows and all these posts on deathbat news, and more and more and more. Oh my goodness. Jimmy was so full of life and fun and I’m so thankful that he was able to touch so many lives. Thank you all so much for helping me miss him – a burden shared is a burden halved.
Given time, he would have been #1 drummer on ANY list!
Love to you all,
Jimmy’s Mom
