Greg Prato from Brave Words spoke with Johnny Christ about Avenged Sevenfold’s new album “Hail To The King,” the bands upcoming Heavy MTL appearance, touring and more.

BraveWords: Any similarities between this album and the previous ones?
Johnny Christ: “It’s definitely us. It sounds like Avenged Sevenfold, but it’s just the next progression. We never want to make the same record we’ve done before. And we’ve been blessed with fans who follow us through that course of evolution. It’s just been an ongoing process. It’s probably the heaviest record that we’ve put out – in it’s own right. We’re just excited to get it out there and see what the fans think. It’s been a great response for the single so far, which I feel is a good way to see what the rest of the record is going to sound like. There will be some surprises in there for fans, but overall, I’m just excited.”

Any other member mentions the album being simplified people come out the woodwork to say theyre worried. Johnny says it’s the heaviest record they’ve put out (in its own right) and no one says a word. Lol.

I was thinking the same thing. No matter what anyone says about the album there’s gonna be people complaining lol

They said critical acclaim was the heaviest song they have done. Then they said Nightmare and God Hates us was the heaviest song they have done. when in reality everything of WTF was the heaviest thing they have done

Comment by ZP

and yet you say WTF is the heaviest thing they have done and I say STST is the heaviest thing they have done… So when does it end? Opinions are noses, everyone has one.

I really don’t mind them changing sound i understand but from listing to hail to the king this is going to be the softest album they put out.
