Johnny Christ Speaks To Lehigh Valley Live.

Johnny Christ spoke to Lehigh Valley Live about the new evolution of Avenged Sevenfold, Arin Ilejay’s Disney inspiration, new stage production and more. The band will perform at Musikfest on Sun, Aug 11th and Musikfest are holding a “Rock Star Photographer at Musikfest! – Avenged Sevenfold Workshop” where you can get in the photo pit for Avenged Sevenfold’s set with Rolling Stone photographer Brian Hineline. All information on attending the workshop and the equipment needed can be found here.

“There is a lot more space on the record, it’s a lot heavier,” Christ says. “We wrote it so we could make that production happen; write for the space, the space will come.”

Chris says the band was listening to everything from classical music to Alice Cooper for inspiration — and the occasional animated feature film.

“Our drummer Arin (Ilejay) claims his inspiration was from watching Disney movies or something,” Christ says, laughing. “We wanted to make it Avenged Sevenfold and still make it sound like us.”

Disney animated movies (mostly 90’s and older) use a lot of classical instruments and sounds, I can see that being an inspiration! Sounds like Arin is a big Disney fan just like I am. :)

ARIN ILEJAY WATCHES DISNEY MOVIES.

I ALWAYS KNEW HE WAS ONE OF US.

I’m sorry, the Caps Lock broke from the amount of cute, which was over 9000.

Coming from a huge Disney nerd who worked at Disneyland at one point. That makes me happy lol. Not to mention I caught Arins Drumstick at the show in Ontario, CA last year and theres a picture of Mickey Mouse’s face on it.
