Golf Digest included M. Shadows as part of their Top 100 In Music. He comes in at #45 and there are also two exclusive images. You can read more in the October 2014 issue.

45. M. SHADOWS (MATT SANDERS)
Handicap: 12.1
Avenged Sevenfold frontman loves golf’s traditions, “even the stuffy ones.”

When their manager talked rocker members of California-based Avenged Sevenfold into hitting balls at a golf-resort concert venue in 2007, lead singer M. Shadows jumped at the chance, thinking it would be easy. What has kept him coming back to the game is how hard it turned out to be.

As with music, excelling is what he’s about, and he has the hours logged with golf-pro buddy Scott Osterhout to prove it. Shadows (real name: Matt Sanders), 33, who often invites Osterhout to travel with him, says golf is factored into tour planning.

Bahahahaha! What is it about golf? I don’t get it….I don’t see the fun in chasing around a little white ball with a stick for hours on end, but whatever floats your boat. I’m sure though being a professional musician & touring have a world of stress that go with them that we’ll never understand & he probably needs some sort of an outlet to keep him sane. Zacky is a golfer too, him and Shads compete in some LA/Orange County charity golf tournament every year – that is if they are home and not out on tour. There are pictures of them out there in the past years they played. Shads and Alice Cooper should get together and play a round cause Mr. Cooper is an avid golfer too and plans his touring schedule around being able to play courses in the cities he’s doing shows in. Or better yet Bill Murray…because he’s just the raddest dude ever & anybody (even me) could have fun playing golf it they were doing it with Bill Murray. Lol!

It’s hitting that perfect shot. Thats what hooked me at least. You can be having a terrible day but as soon as you smash that ball down the center of the fairway you cant help but be happy.
